  1. That makes for a very sad day I'm glad they had each other as company on their journey over the bridge . Take care ...
  2. Obviously as a koolie person ..these have appeal ..and the shorter stature & longer coat just complete the package how gorgeous are the merles https://stockdogsavvy.wordpress.com/category/alpenhutehund/
  3. A few questions for some more detail? Then we may be able to suggest something useful . When is the mud eating happening? Where is it happening ? What other things does the dog have access to instead of mud at these times ? Toys/ grass? beds? bones? other dogs , for example has dog always done this ..or what has changed .have you had a lot of rain , moved house , used fertiliser, changed routine ? What is dog normally fed , and when ,each day ? What sort of routine do you have for your dog during the day /week If a dog does eat sand/mud..yep, it's gotta come out the other end ...not ideal, and best to do some detective work, find a reason- then work around it
  4. vet check for teeth/gums feed the day's meat meal 'on the bone' ...NO other food for that day ? Soft bone like chicken wings or chicken back etc ....perhaps hammer flat ? Mince containing minced bone . First meal of the day ,when dogs are hungry ..make it a non weight bearing meat-on-bone meal ....slightly sear the outside meat in very hot frypan to get the smell happening!! if they chew ALL meat off the bone - that's a great start
  5. That phone box looks SO good Great shot.
  6. Not as far as I know , but it's not as good as once it was
  7. That's scary stuff! had not heard of that ! there is another "black salve/ointment " which works fine & can be bought at chemists ? perhaps the OP used this one instead ? It is called Ichthammol

  9. I am one happy camper - got to spend time with my favouritest 'slobrador' this weekend She is a working retriever who is amazing! , great family companion with the sweetest of natures .. lovely neat feet , stocky build ... ( and a petshop purchase some years back!! ) I would steal her in a flash .....
  10. So she gets a reward for attempting to put her teeth on you ? It can be called redirection ..... have you watched a Bitch with her pups ? if they are nipping/jumping/chewing ..she will growl , push them away , and/or use her own mouth on them . They learn that this behaviour has a consequence ..and stop very quickly . Whichever way is your choice ..timing, body language and voice tone are all really important , as pups/dogs are EXPERT in reading these ! It can be such hard work communicating in another language ;) Here are a couple of things for you to read : LINK 1 LINK 2
  11. puppies don't have fingertips with to feel textures etc...so use their mouth ! they get new teeth at around 5 mths old ..and REALLY need good chewing resources then ;) make sure she can access lots of different textures and tastes . deer antlers rope chews fresh bones like turkey wings/necks apples /carrots THESE BALL things make noise and seem to be fun and THESE TOYS are good value and tough (in my opinion)

  19. Mini poodles ? fantastic , when they are treated as d o g s An older couple living on the land had one - she would go to work with her 'dad' ..would happily ride on the motor bike /run in yards with sheep/cattle ..then retire indoors to her cushions /the fire /her biscuits /guard duty LOL .
  20. Standard poodles are amazing I met my first one many many years ago , when we stayed at the Norwood motel , in Adelaide (have a photo somewhere ) back in the early 60's ?he was there with his very proud lady owner , and I was besotted . fast forward, and for some time I was involved in the training of one as a prospective guide dog ..he was such a clever clogs!!
  21. I would presume a different father , rather than a better quality diet ....
  22. Midge!! there's upright , and there's magnificent !! She is just gorgeous ...... What an absolute little star
  23. Female desexing is basically a hysterectomy . There are higher risks of things going wrong because of the fact that internal organs have been removed /stitched ..and then several layers of tissue have also been stitched . ..and the wound is underneath, with weight pushing down on it . jumping/stretching etc also stretches the area ..and can tear tissue . male dog desexing is only skin deep , really ...often there is a large fluid build up in the now-empty scrotum, and irritation from the shaving .. but in normal and healthy young dogs , they seem to just carry on .
