Hi- She will drink- she may not need much if she is getting wet food - and perhaps she drinks when you're not around? leave out a few different bowls- often dogs prefer water which is not 'fresh'.Try different materials- a ceramic one, a metal one , a plastic one.... The more water you ,mix with her meals.. and the more chicken stock you give her- the LESS she will want to drink plain water make sure there is at least one DEEP container of water which stays cool... and try to not change water too often.. .let it sit for a day to remove chlorine and other smells use rainwater, perhaps? Our dogs all prefer to drink out of one particular container when outside (there are about 6 different watering points around our yard) If, after a long walk... she is tired and panting a lot- and doesn't drink- she may well do after she has 'cooled down bit'. Hope this has been helpful. oh- all our water containers are at least 4 litres capacity... some are about 30 litres...keeps the water cooler in our heat.

Lord- if my cocker X Hamlet is any indicator--- they are a very demonstrative and waggly bunch !! That nurse did a good thing- good for her!! :D

I think you did a very good thing!! :D This girl may have now been saved all sorts of problems with her family, and a puppy may have been saved experiencing the tension

I really think you need good professional advice.. but don't believe there is anyone in the riverland? His reaction almost sounds like fearful aggression.... but that is only my interpretation Whatever it is- it would be helpful for you to get some solid help- privately.

I doubt that. he would have perhaps had that posture due to your body language- or pain, or confusion... Is his behaviour other than that absolutely normal??? Is there any way the collar could have hurt him? Was there any other dog activity nearby? Just long shots, I know.... but without being there- it's always a guessing game.

Once again- many interesting posts- and some sensible suggestions for the OP. (bravo, K9force) I am a lazy dog owner. I do NOT have a good recall on a couple of my dogs when they prefer hunting to walking with me. They only go off lead when I know there is nothing moving within an area!I am happy with doing that :D I use a long (6mtr) cable 'dog tie out' available from some $2 shops... They last for ages- and allow the dogs plenty of room. AS said- Keep him on lead - and get a good professional to help you implement a plan to improve the recall.

How old is the dog? When was she speyed? How long a walk does she get each day? What treats does she get given/scrounge? What is her condition?- is she lean/tubby/chunky..perfect ?

Some dogs recycle- some don't. Dogs see things very differently to us humans- remember, they sniff bums, and eat rotten meat, too often, what is fed to a pup has so much flavouring, etc that it still smells like food after being excreted . Check the diet, and make sure you pick up as often as possible. Ensure the pup has plenty of good big bones and kongs to chew/eat.

Hi- This is a generalisation... and simplified. Puppies/dogs come to an owner because, basically, the REWARD they get from doing so is GREATER than doing anything else... and... they have been correctly taught what actions are required when the owner yells "come' .. or whatever. So- a dog who doesn't respond to a recall... eg: my Hamlet- a middleaged x breed... is either doing something MUCH more interesting..and with 4 mth old puppies- EVERYTHING is interesting.!! not had enough practice in doing a recall has been yelled at/told off on a previous recall, and doesn't want the unpleasantness again :Dor... has learnt that "come, fido, come fido, come fido.." means that they only come when they want.... ..and then cautiously, because their owner, out of frustration and worry will probably tell them off also-- being in a 'pack'- even just 2, will mean a different behaviour than a single pup. A pack gives security.. and (IMO) less dependence on an owner..so pack behaviour may come first I KNOW Hamlet won't come back if he is hunting It is my fault for not doing enough training early on..... and for not being vigilant enough to keep him from temptation. I have never punished him for FINALLY returning... even tho I am worried and a bit angry with myself. Which scenario fits with your pups? What training do you do with them? What is their recall like around home/on leash?

NO.. not because he thought you couldn't see him... because his feet itch, and he needs to try and relieve it.. and he is under the table because he feels anxious at being yelled at If you are finding the chewing irritates you so much.. let him wear a basket muzzle at home when you are there The chewing is not good for any skin problem... saliva and friction make any problem a lot worse! So- he is still chewing , even tho he is on the tablets? I would be checking with the vet.... he should be feeling much better by now, I would think... Oh.. and anxiety alone can lead to severe chewing/licking probs....

Sorry-- I have had dogs with allergies, and chewed feet...and on cortisone, so I do know what it can be like. I'm mean They still went outside to the toilet.. and I washed/dried their feet when they came in.

A thought.... there isn't a bitch in season anywhere near, is there? he may not know WHY.. but the scent may be a disturbance to him... Is he comfortable? No pain ? Has anything changed over the past little while? Guests/different work hours/new neighbours....cats roaming...

Puppies RUN- they zoom about, they jump. they yip........ they PLAY The digging- as suggested make him his own sand pit... and bury things for him to seek and destroy

What do you do to deter him and show him that this behaviour is unwanted? You say he humps everything... but then "only to a desexed female..." Does he hump legs/cushions, etc too? Or just dogs...?
