  1. jodie- if you are taking the dog to a vet- please don't put anything in the sore ear... it may make things look different, so the vet can't make a diagnosis as easily ;) Hopefully you will get some relief for you pup
  2. everything!! chicken wings, mince smeared around the inside, some peanut butter, kibble, left-overs, like bits off chops/roast... possibilities are endless ;)
  3. there is a thread here Hope all settles down - poor old girl
  4. Don't know... just a thought- I have a big apology at the ready
  5. yeah- but she fattened them up, and fed them sugary things  her dogs may have got pancreatic problems !!
  6. ACK! I just re-read the poster's name.......wondering why they hadn't returned.... I wonder......... hook, line & sinker?????
  7. I agree- she will not be a known 'breed'- she will have traits from both breeds . Ask yourself if you are prepared for the grooming, the ear care, the excitability.... and if she has not been raised around kids.... what will she be like?
  8. You are angry and broken... It was an accident, and could have happened at any time.It takes but a second. If it helps- she would not have known what happened- she would have been in shock and numb with such massive injuries...I believe tho- she probably did sense your presence, as the 'green dream' set her free. Take care- be kind to yourself and your family.
  9. Oh - my thoughts are with both of you
  10. Ok- so they are members of the solanacae family- I cannot easily find out just what the levels of solanine/atropine are in ripe fruit..also how much is needed to cause problems in dogs. ] Anyone help? Thanks. *spin-off from another thread*
  11. probably- but you can explain it to me Hamlet eats tomato every day--- it's about the only veg he eats.. he will steal them! What is in them to cause problems?
  12. Not used in Australia, as far as I know. This email floats about every so often...
  13. Now- there is nothing wrong with home baking!! (laughing WITH you, not AT you, Bub)
  14. It is?? You will find many threads in which dog owners are advised by forum regulars to feed their dogs a RAW diet Our dogs mostly get a 'prey model' diet... lots of bones, meat/whole rabbits, etc. Oh- from information I have read and seen, not many wolves or wild dogs eat 30% vegetable matter as part of their diet. Yes, they do ingest some.. berries, soft grasses , maybe.. but they do not eat prey paunch contents as a rule.
  15. The author has obviously not met many free range chooks at all!! free range chooks will hunt down and eat all manner of insects and small mammals like mice they enjoy carrion, and also enjoy a degree of cannibalism. Adding a protein source from meat is perfectly natural
  16. It's a good variety- but if he were mine , meals would be 'chewier ' , that's all
  17. Hi- NOT a crazy dog, rather a submissive baby puppy- who is both excited and anxious about all this carry-on. You may find that speaking in a normal calm voice, and doing everything as matter-of-fact helps. Also- do not pat/cuddle/tickle pup unless he is sitting, or has 4 feet on the ground.... this way , he is only being rewarded for doing desirable things. :D He is a little baby- he is in a new place, and has yet to learn all your voices/body language, smells and wishes. carrying? I wouldn't. I would make sure I had time- so if he sits .. then you do too. NO talking to or eye contact/praising or patting when he does it, OR when he nudges you, or whinges. he WILL get praised, however, if , as you stand up and move off, he joins you! All that said...are you sure there could be no physical problem? No hot footpath surface? No big male dog smells everywhere which could intimidate him? No truck exhaust? Has he been vet checked? No possibility of any hip problems? Repeat.. HE IS A BABY.... so take things very slow. make sure he walks happily and Confidently on the leash in your yard first....then a short straight walk up&downin front of your house- then a bit further after a couple of days success.... etc etc. Oh- if he indeed weighs around 20 kg--- please make sure you are using a very sturdy and well made collar and lead, and that he has ID on his collar. A pup that size, if badly scared, could shoot off and break a shoddy leash clip
  18. Good for you :D Enjoy lots and lots of practicing!! You'll have a ball ;)
  19. Two pups sounds like VERY hard work It has,and can be done...however there are problems. pups will naturally look to each other.. instead of concentrating on their human. Two pups will devise really interesting games, resulting is destruction and noise The PLUS is that two pups will keep other company, and will entertain themselves....
  20. Colleen- I am glad that now you have the strength to write this here... You and your parents had a special life together.. and a bond that will last.
