Bronte Having A Bad Morning And Mum Strung Out
persephone replied to SmoothieGirl's topic in Puppy Chat
Puppies can also get greenstick fractures REST her. Tiles and young pups is not a good combination, I'm afraid. Hopefully she hasn't any major injuries... -
What's Wrong With My Puppy's Foot?
persephone replied to ksmith's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
'cutting back on food" ?? shouldn't that be "changing the amounts of proteins/minerals in the diet, instead of just reducing pup's daily intake"? or am I confuddled? ksmith- I am glad your girl is looking better!!! -
!!! Indeed

I would suggest a new vet!! This is a very good point! if you are using a flea treatment which you put onto the back of her neck- this may be causing her problem ...
-
Not advisable.... because NO There could be several things happening- and unless you are very familiar with your dog, its anatomy and all the causes of ear pain/scratching, etc.. head to the vet to find out for certain! :p
-
What is he being fed- and what muscle-building exercise does he get? How much walking/climbing etc?
-
You need to see the vet- they will possibly examine the 'wax' under a microscope to make sure it IS an earmite infestation then prescribe something to kill them

Dogs Seeking To Eat Grass...

Nooo.. the guineafowl will demolish it in minutes!! -
If he is pulling so constantly and strongly- and you have never used a halti ...and given his age.. I would NOT recommend it!! A couple of one-on-one sessions with a professional trainer will probably do the trick, though!! Running around is exercising his body- making him fitter, but not tiring him mentally. ;)in fact, you may be stirring him up!! Pulling can be its own reward. What do you do to correct him? Most harnesses just make it easier for a dog TO pull, in my opinion...tho some hhere have used specific ones to help stop pulling Stopping pulling requires YOu to be patient, calm and committed. May I suggest you start him immediately on THIS , too ?

Dogs Seeking To Eat Grass...
persephone replied to persephone's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
ermmm these are 'bush' working dogs They wouldn't know a carrot if they saw one. I am happy to grate it up and mix it in food if it will help. -
several of the dogs are looking to 'graze'... but there is not a blade of 'grass' around. There are shrubs and weeds... which are nibbled on to various extent. one dog at present has pigged out on a native bush.. and is throwing up bits of leaf and stalk matter. I am trying to germinate some wheat........ so there is something................ is there anything easy I can add to the food ? Some on great barko- some on raw..... psyllium? spinach? lettuce? grated carrot? This has never happened before... but it's so dry

Confirmation Problem With Front Legs Update Post 23
persephone replied to mplsv's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes- can you give us a description, and / or put up some pics ? There are probably some on here who have seen or dealt with the problem before- and will be able to help you . ((hug)) edit- just checked her age... and , depending on where you got her- there are conditions which, in youngsters which can be cause and also remedied with DIET. Until we see a vet report, or photos/more history, tho it is all purely guess work. hang in there! -
We cut some of the fat off.. and feed them here regularly The dogs love em!!
-
Bit of a worry Leech? has she been swimming, or in swampy areas?? Sounds doubtful. All I can think of is a burst blood vessel from sneezing??? Hope she is ok.
-
WAS IT ONE OF THESE? I love em.. and feed them with soaked dog kibble
-
Oh dear Hope everything settles down with your girls

Licking Her Ummm Private Parts
persephone replied to chuckie500's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
What things does she have to occupy her? Games? Chew/puzzle toys? LOTS of walking on leash to tire her out? Licking can become obsessive.. and it's easier to stop it now!! telling her to stop is drawing attention..... a reward of sorts Make sure she always has different things to do... and make sure she walks/plays enough that she drops down tired! edited to add... licking can also be done to try & relieve pain.... any chance of her having hip/pelvic pain? -
Lucky you caught it
-
For such a youngster- it is more likely irritation from a dirty bum or worms

So Sorry- he will leave a big hole in your life.
