  1. Ok You are certainly trying to keep him level-headed Good for you! Do we get to see photos??? If his meal is at the end of it- or there is a kong with treats in... this would make you the GOOD guy!! :D So, use a different command .. like 'Bedtime :D' or something I never use 'come'.. It's always" bed, now'.... with our guys.
  2. Parvo virus can be carried on dogs' feet- and infected dogs may defecate on footpaths, etc .The virus stays viable for many months... so yes, a walk down the street could , in theory, be where a pup contracts the dreaded Parvo
  3. pete sounds cute... but not really a 'puppy' anymore Maybe he is a bit spoilt ? he sleeps for some time on the bed? And the other furniture? Does he get carried often? What obedience training do you do with him? Does he sit & wait for his food, or do tricks? pete and his owners may ned some reminders as to who pays the bills! ie: Who is the boss :D Try these two things for starters, perhaps ? ONE Two I would also be getting him to walk out to his kennel ...he has good legs, and if there is a meal or a treat/fave toy waiting for him, he will learn that it is a good thing!
  4. She could also have an injury to her trachea.. and irritants/collars will make her want to cough
  5. Re: lethargy- benadryl Cough mix cam make them VERY dopey .. some dogs not. Hopefully your girl is ok.
  6. When you travel, you could try taking a small amount of grass/soil from where she toilets at home..place in an area where you thinjk she may 'go'.. and see if that makes a difference. Onething which may help- especially as she will only toilet with you present ( a habit she has learnt) is to -EVERY time she is about to, and is, urinating or defecating..use a word/command... like "toilet',or "quick, quick", or widdle..whatever- not in a firm voice.. I use a fairly happy voice.. and repeat, interspersed with "good pup",when you see any result Done EVERY time.. it should only be a short while before she makes the association. You then have a dog who will toilet on cue ....and it is a wonderful thing!! I have always done it.....it makes life so much more pleasant when travelling Oh- and she is such a baby- please don't spray citronella on her bedding .. it is strong on littlle noses, if she is forced to lie on it
  7. Demodex mites are present from birth- and only become problematic if, for some reason, pup's immune system gets a bit sluggish :p
  8. Did the vet check under a blacklight for ringworm?
  9. Oops- small puppies and older dogs he has probably not had a nuisance pup annoying him all the time he was doing what dogs do- trying to teach nuisance pp some manners !not his fault!! I do hope it's just a skin nick, and he's back home soon.
  10. Maybe ,instead of paper.. use something with good fake turf over it- so the texture/look of grass is there? That 'may' make it easier to then learn to go on grass. Why get a dachsie with so many stairs in the house- poor dog.
  11. I wouldn't- unless the cough changes - or they get yucky discharge from their nose, or start to look decidedly unwell. ....You sound as if you're doing all the right things
  12. KY jelly? baby oil? Olive oil? you may have to unroll the prepuce skin- so the hairy rim is back where it should be- facing 'outwards'. Sometimes with an incomplete withdrawal.. the rim rolls in-and the extra thickness, and hair stop the complete withdrawal.... It's been a LOONG time since I had to deal with this problem... sorry can't be more help. Hope he's ok.
  13. let someone else do the work, and the cleaning
  14. Oh- and if you want a pup like your girl why not look up other breeders who have the same lines, and see if they have something you like ? You can get the lines off her pedigree, and check up on what's available. That way you won't have the worry and expense of getting your bitch in whelp, and having pups to find homes for....
  15. OK- and why would you breed from an unethical breeder's dog? A unethical breeder may not have checked for hereditary conditions.your girl may be carrying some fault which could be passed on . AS for the vet giving diet advice- well... a lot of people DO think feeding lots of colourings etc is fine... same as parents do with children. Vets study long and hard- however they are still only human, and can be misinformed, the same as anyone else
  16. JulesP..I tend to believe that Poppy's personality is the root cause- not herding, not other dogs... Perhaps you would benefit from an assessment from someone not closely involved with her? Objectively then, you would have stuff to work with? Just my 2c worth
  17. OOps he needs some tough boydog toys
  18. He was bored, and wanted you to play?
  19. Quite possibly is tear staining- tears aren't brown..it is chemical reaction which stains the hair. Sorry- don't have any fluffy dogs- so can't give you hints.
  20. Good work so far Thanks for the update .
  21. he is a pup - and IMO (not up with the modern feeding regimes ) needs more than pumpkin and/or carrot to fill him up Turkey wings and necks ,maybe? Pumpkin and carrot are good for dogs who need to lose weight..... or for dogs with digestion probs. puppies need meat/bone/fat.
  22. good idea!! *goes off to put a couple of things in *
  23. It sounds like an allergy to me.......... the redness and muzzle rubbing...... I would be surprised if it was anything to do with being used at stud... although.. something different may have triggered the allergic response? What else has changed from about that time? Food, detergents, shampoo, plants in the yard, medications, collar material.. treats, new furniture, Has he been to the vet? It sounds as if he is uncomfortable
