GEZACKLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a photographer's shadow... am a 'heart', not a 'head', snatcher of life's imagery;get totally confused with all the manual controls ..and much prefer the basic point & shoot stuff these days .. but, when I am 'in the mood'.. images appear A subject with which I 'click'..be it a dog ,or a mushroom, or even a shadow... usually makes for a better shot... I guess because there is a story or a feeling or a 'look' that I am trying to capture and share with others ;) Photography to me is seeing the world up close & personal.. and hoping to convey what I feel to the viewer. Some of my favourite shots are those serendipitous ones Where I literally look around and go "ooh! Gotta grab this moment!" Like THIS where, a minute later, the sun had withdrawn, I had shifted position, and the beauty was gone ... or THIS.....

I think you would be better served buying a compact camera from a recognised camera 'name' have a look here LINK 1 LINK 2 LINK 3 LINK 4 and LINK 5 just to get you started! Don't be fooled by heaps of megapixels, and digital zoom!! I use an ols sony cybershot.. a small one ..and a fuji finepix...no DSLR..and definitely no 12 megapixels my pics more of my pics not as good quality as a DSLR.. but good enough for me Optical zoom is what you get when you 'zoom' the lens. Digital zoom is kinda like zooming in on the already taken picture.... not very clear, and not a true 'zoom'

Excellent post, Vickie -
What methods are you using to toilet train the pup? It hopefully wont take too long :p Puppy may well be cold- laundries can be very cold and isolating spots..and boring Lots of bedding..maybe a chew toy and something warm

Assaid, he is a dog with a strong instinct to 'work' What things does he do in the way of exercise/training ? It can be frustrating when, because of the legs working , the ears stop! -
Poor little boy .. hope he can enjoy his time in the sun, being spoilt and pain free

The EDITING I had in mind when doing this poll... was the photographer sitting here at their computer, with photoshop or similar... definitely NOT what's done by a mass-produced printing business Sorry If I've not been clear .

Thanks for all the explanations, folks:) -

can you move her bed somewhere a bit brighter? then put a treat there or a bone ,so she stays sttill?
-
Agree with nekhbet...This pup has probably never had any need to be housetrained, or to be with babies, or even be by himself You need to almost treat him as a blank slate ... he knows nothing of living in a house around a family!! he is frightened and stressed..and professional help will be invaluable to you, and Remy

Molasseslass- have a look now

Aah- so shooting RAW means you 'have' to edit ... yep.

Oops- what do I need to fix???

I was thinking this morning just how many folks are buying PS and other editing programs.......and wondering just how much editing is actually done- why, and what sort ... I rarely do anything other than crop..maybe some colour work or background blurring sometimes. Of course I use programs to chnage the look of a pic- create textures, add in objects,do collages etc... but everyday photos.. my editing programs are going rusty have fun with this one

regarding THIS thread.. is it now common for other people to handle young pups during classes? Whilst I accept that it is neccessary for show dogs to be sometimes handled by others.. I find this method leaves me with questions :)My interest has been sparked ! Can someone explain... I have NOTHING to do with showing... how do you get your dogs comfortable with professional handlers? I would have thought it to be awfully confusing for a pup in the early stages...and in a class situation.....and not really helpful to the owners. What is the expected outcome? Thank you -
I will just say that to expect a puppy to only toilet twice a day is a BIIIIG ASK

Puppies can eat bones at any age :p whole chicken wings would be better than tips- they need to chew on bones ..not just crunch&swallow! I agree- with necks..just sort of 'flatten ' them a bit... but don't cut them smaller!
-
I wouldn't worry unless he looks distressed, or is having toileting problems .. Our dogs do the same.. some bits of bone just won't pass thru the sphincter, or get digested enough.. so up they come :p

Bad Ear Sunburn & Insect Damage

paw paw cream can be found in supermarkets/chemists/outdoor /camping stores.... ETA. I have tried it- but the dogs found the stickiness annoying... plus when they lay down it collected dirt (no lawn/concrete here:P ) It is good stuff tho! :p -
QUOTE OF THE WEEK!! :p Too TRUE!

Until her stitches are out and she is back to normal exercise etc... don't worry about giving her anything different She does NOT need an upset tummy while her body is healing :p if she always has soft/sloppy poo... you may need to change something in her diet. But not now. Let her recover from her operation first! What exactly is she fed, and how much? What brand of puppy food, what treats, what sort of mince? How often each day is she fed? what bones does she get? I would agree again that the vet sounds like one you do NOT talk to about dietary matters A dessertspoonful of allbran for a little pup is a lot of fibre!

I have used it on flybitten ears, and it doesn't seem to sting... the dogs don't mind it at all... Obviously the best for this old boy would be to keep him out of the sun, and inside away from insects, but if that's not feasible... once his ears have healed a bit.. some good sunscreen with insect repellant in may be very useful . -
Giraffez- agree with cosmolo.. because of his protected puppyhood, your boy has not learnt doggy manners. You will need to be carefully taught how to socialise him... preferably with some one-on -one time
