  1. Where are the bones??? I would hope the mince has bone minced up in it as well... Wouldn't it be cheaper to do your own? IMO dogs/cats , unless old and /or ill do not need mince.
  2. Myboyjosh- if you look- you will see I googled the law and posted a link to it Oh- and suggested alternatives
  3. I guess you could use chicken hearts/livers..and if you feed frames there will be kidneys too
  4. Ok! NO butcher's offal either LINK TO Tassie LAWpertaining to HYDATID DISEASE Sheesh- as if the lamb hearts are going to be full of hydatid cysts if they are for human consumption.
  5. I would think it is not illegal to feed offal- providing you source it from your butcher! hearts, liver, brains, tripe..... I think what the law means is that if you find roadkill, and/or butcher a beast and feed the unchecked bits ... Or? maybe I'm very wrong. I'd be surprised though if feeding meat from a butcher is illegal, whether it is a lamb heart or a filet mignon. make sure the red meat you feed has bone too- lamb flaps, beef brisket, pig's heads, turkey necks, kangaroo tails I would suggest chicken necks.thighs are a bit small for a goldie- I would worry that he wouldn't chew them . Chicken frames are good- as are turkey wings. he doesn't need much veg... these threads may be interesting for you LINK LINK
  6. I think I was told on here that there is no such thing as a stupid question ..It's often easier to 'see' a possible solution from the other side of a computer screen !
  7. Put your pups in the chosen areas..THEN get the food bowls.. feed whichever one you want first..get them to sit & wait.... an excellent opportunity for a bit of training and one-on -one atention. It is also getting them used to being alone and doing stuff
  8. Feed them in separate rooms- or one inside, one outside, but make sure they cannot seeach other , and remove bowls immediately.
  9. I would also ask why do you continue to try & feed him dry ? If he loves meat/egg/bones..well, you are halfway there! :p feeding raw stuff like lamb flap(with bone in) will also help him put weight on!
  10. Glad things have settled down for you
  11. slightly OT - but do labs often need trimming of foot hair? Golden Retrievers, yes- cockers etc definitely.. but I have never heard of it As for the whiskers, that is ridiculous, IMO .Are whiskers untidy and hard to manage ?
  12. Hi - What exercise does she get each day ?How long are her daily training sessions, and walks? If she is tired mentally and physically she will be less inclined to amuse herself by digging. You can also try giving her her own digging area- a clearly marked spot in the yard- (a spot you know she likes)maybe get a trailer full of extra sand and dump there. Bury a few toys/treats in there to keep her interested. OR a kids clam shell sand pit, or wading pool, filled with sand . Lots of rewards for digging in the right spot. Re: Kongs- what are you filling them with? I use whole chicken wings/peanut butter/cheese, vegemite/yoghurt.. combinations...or a mix of chicken stock, with some treats in, and freeze in the kong (plug the holes with cream cheese or something) A well filled kong with hard-to- get-out goodies will keep them busy for quite some time
  13. I wouldn't - BUT I would have someone fetch her for photos , if possible, and deposit her safely home again...
  14. Thanks! Lovely to see the babies especially. Sorry about Clifford - was he old, or the victim of lines? tawny babies have those amazing gapes! I remember slicing up frozen day-old chickens and dropping them into those huuuge mouths! Loove ringtails - nice pic.
  15. Parvo can also affect the heart muscle in puppies - I have seen litters of gorgeous 6-8 week old pups just die..... no intestinal symptoms at all...Just sudden death, later confirmed to be parvovirus.
  16. Hi- once she has had her stitches out, she'll be fine! With stitches out, the new owners will have no worries either, of iritations/infections etc I love her name!
  17. Tasmania is a part of Australia, unlike NZ, so I would presume possums are protected wildlife there as well, which is why I was asking...
  18. On the news they said the dog was eating, and snapped at h etoddler, Footage of her in the ambulance- smiling away- didn't look to be too much damage, Apparently she got injuries to a lip. It could have been a lot worse. The dog's owner was quite blase at first, and then appeared most distressed as the ranger took the dog away.
  19. Thanks:) I shall hide it from public view, and fix it tomorrow!
