  1. I don't believe in the death by licking theory... the dog may have already eaten previous mice, before bringing you that one, IR ?
  2. I would suggest that you just keep an eye on him for now- make sure he is drinking- and toileting OK. Don't try and tempt him to eat. If all seems ok -then offer him another normal meal tonight. if he seems lethargic(more than normal in the heat), vomits, or has diarrhoea..or is doing anything else that seems odd...then contact a vet...
  3. It may not be melanoma- could just be burst blood vessels (old blood goes a browny colour) *fingers crossed it is all ok for you*
  4. Hope it all has a happy outcome- I love that face keep us posted !
  5. may I suggest a vet/chiro/nutritionist .... those feet will be not very comfortable ....and growing as they are, will not be growing into the correct shape ... poor little (not-so-little) girl . Hopefully you can get her back on her feet properly with not too much work She is an appealingly goofy youngster
  6. Her toes look very splayed..and she appears to be 'flat footed' (proper term escapes me )...Hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along and set me straight ...
  7. heinz! Lovely cheeky face Now- in the 4th photo- is it just me, or do her front legs/feet look a bit odd ? Maybe she is stepping- but that conformation looks strange... any othr pics of her standing?
  8. if it were me- no collar- no dinner ..... Now he has learnt that if he sooks for an hour- you WILL remove the collar- and he can then eat in peace
  9. YES! what a good idea- like a gated porch....
  10. "I tawt I saw a puddy tat. I WANT that puddy tat"
  11. If it only bruising etc- why not let her decide? If she's sore, she'll rest ...that's the theory, anyhow
  12. Glad your girl is ok! My suggestion is to spend lots of time instilling some "when door opens, I must SIT" training.... leash dogs, one at a time...and practice, practice, practice..open door- dog SITS and doesn't move until door closes..... That's all I can think of- other than, if you are going out, or someone knocks- dogs are put in crates or in another room...
  13. Charcoal is great- but perhaps not when the dog is on medication Charcoal is used to absorb toxins/drugs ..so it may not allow the meds to work as well as they should.
  14. Can we see a photo of his mally tail?
  15. looks like shep/lab....or something- I don't believe it has enough coat for a mal X.. It is possibly made up of more than 2 breeds ...
  16. Some 'dog boxes' are well thought out- with adequate ventilation- well away from anything hot, and have rubber matting/carpeting. Others I have seen are just metal ..which would be very noisy/hot and stifling. No way would I permit a dog in my care to travel in one of these truck 'dog box' in the warmer weather I am also worried that if the dogs are unused to this form of travel- it could be very stressful Stock carriers etc I know of, train their pups up to travelling like this- and the dogs are fine... but normal pet dogs- no ,I would not do it. Cardboard cartons are also flimsy things- I would worry about escape..either chewing/or after urinating and making cardboard soggy :D I know it must be frustrating trying to find suitable transport- I'm sorry....
  17. What caz said. You put it on.. and put his food down, or whatever. if he wants to stay frozen- let him. Don't try & cajole/bribe/force- just leave him be.It might take a half hour- but he WILL move- either to walk, or lie down... when he does, then QUIETLy praise him.. and remove the collar/harness.
  18. Oh- and to quickly get a 'feel' for your camera- spend a bit of time just taking shots of the one thing-using all different settings-comparing them. That way you will soon know what your camera 'sees' when it is set at certain things- and what you need to note. Remember to take lots of photos- and only keep the best! never a truer word spoken!
  19. No romantic vision here- Had a job working in a darkroom hours each day when I left school smelly ,hard work... but the results were often wonderful!
  20. Jug & bucket here- much gentler on everybody No access to warm water? buy some black poly hose... a roll. also buy a stopper for one end (or a tap) attach one end to to tap--fill with water.. leave in sun for a couple of hours.... TEST before using..it can get VERY hot. warm water on tap :D
  21. I would think that, after all the diarrhoea and vomiting, his system would have been empty. A few mouthfuls of boiled chicken will not be much in the scheme of things . Are you boiling the chicken and rice together? doing it this way- in a minimum of water .. and almost no salt.. means that the chicken breaks down and saturates the gluggy rice with flavour Cut chicken into small pieces before cooking.....
  22. perhaps he is feeling great! Don't panic- and call your vet when you can, and discuss it .
