  1. First- BREATHE.. Anger is not really what you need now- it is calm planning and thought. Please do NOT set rat traps They can break a cat's foot/leg! Kidnapping/stealing someone else's pet is just WRONG. Obviuosly the owners DO care- cat has a collar and bell- which many do not...so many people still believe it is cruel to keep cats indoors at night, as cats are nocturnal, and the 'wild side' of them needs to roam.... I would suggest speaking with them... calmly... I would also suggest ,instead of phoning council, have a look at the websites.. see if there is a cat curfew law in place. Some folks who answer phones have no idea if there is a curfew in place- then by all means trap/impound cat. if not - then perhaps you can still trap it- or get one of those water squirting /motion activated things ;)or befriend the cat and remove the bell!
  2. I'd keep the palm.... or - offer it for sale!! If it is a big old one- often they sell well- buyer to remove,of course. Old established palms are sought for housing projects/parks, etc. make enquiries A few in our town were removed from private gardens and planted at he Club and other spots! They were very old. Is yours a date palm? they take SO many years to grow..... it is a shame to kill them, I think.
  3. I would also suggest you refer back to the breeder.... you may also like to read THIS

  6. yep- take out the flour/sugar/salt and vanilla, and make egg nog instead
  7. Horty- glad you mentioned the white cedar- I 'thought' that is what it looked like...but had never seen one pollarded ( I HATE the look of pollarded trees ) Native frangipanis are beautiful trees- don't throw bits of themselves anywhere- and the perfume of their flowers is to die for :D
  8. I don't know- but trying to establish new turf on unknown soil in Summer, with pretty tight water restrictions seems like way too much work Best of luck with it....
  9. water the turf- advertiseit for sale..buy bark chips or gravel for the yard :D MUCH less hassle..... no watering...no holes, no mowing.. oh- and watering lawn each day is really BAAD.. it keep the roots just below the surface- so they cook and die Lawn - esp new stuff needs to be SOAKED... so the underneath soil is wet. Otherwise the roots will not/can not grow ... and the turf dies. Soaked is not a hand sprinkle- or even a sprinkler on for an hour.... it is watering deeply for a few hours once a week....... if you have sandy soil... the water will just run thru and need deep soakinhg regularly
  10. That's a good story!! :D Smart boy . oh- and time to start getting kitten used to being outdoors in a secure run, so he doesn't get into trouble ..as he gets more adventurous!

  16. Parvo lives in soil/dust for a LONG time What did you disinfect with? Only a couple of things will kill the virus ... It would be awful to get a puppy and have it get ill too!! Also - your pup may well have been depositing the virus with his faeces for a few days before you noticed him sick .....
  17. SO glad he's home and feeling more comfortable!! What a scare.
  18. koolies &x's 1 acre house yard- more acres on top of that .... the house dogs (4) race around the yard when they're not inside with us, and get a walk each day.

  20. This nest has been used for two years- this is its third The wasp pair are redoing a doorway/tunnel with fresh mud..they have 'bricked over' an old entranceway. I was fortunate enough to witness a mating too They have to be careful of just where they put their stings! Luckily these guys are not at all aggro..I can get very close . Oh- it's the male with that glorious yellow patch on his head.
