  1. For an old wonky legged dog? We use home made ones- a bean bag outer or chaff bag, filled with raw wool VERY comfortable- no risk of fleas...warm in winter.. and gives support ... Do Snooza make a wool -filled one?
  2. Yep- Muscles grow with appropriate use .... do some reading perhaps on the different muscle groups, what they do, and then plan exercise accordingly
  3. I do all my own A4size/postcard size .. Do them on canvas too.. put them in cheap wooden frames they look ok. have never used anything other than redbubble for bigger, better quality things.
  4. I agree with maybe further xrays/tests. It could well be a spinal problem or something else.. Poor old boy. ;) Try using a belly band on him
  5. I'm lazy- HERE are some of mine
  6. We stopped buying it when they increased the fish meal..our dogs weren't keen on it... and it seemed to also produce more waste. prior to that, we used it for years with no observable health problems.
  7. Yep - minced frames area good start! Even better would be the whole frames, so your dog can chomp them up herself You can save yourself the effort of cooking for your dog- They do not need cooked food ...do better on raw. Cooked bone is NOT a good thing at all for dogs
  8. So- I hope the trainer has now given you the 'tools' to recognise and defuse any more redirected aggression :D keep up the good work.
  9. Sorry - I thought turkey wings/necks were a bit big to swallow whole ;) Hamlet can't.....
  10. Turkey necks/wings and chicken frames ;) Also kangaroo tails
  11. This has been done before- something about 'double muscling' .from memory ;)
  12. Really? I thought it was great! Not much smell- didn't sting or anything- dried really quickly..and worked!! on April and us I bet the foxes do love the smell of all that chook litter, etc!!
  13. Time for a professional to come and have a look at the dynamics. You probably need to change the house rules...Raf's world has been turned upside down....and you all need to be made to fit in it again I agree- your delayed response and method of correction would not have been at all helpful for what happened In Raf's mind- he was told off for sitting on the floor!
  14. *nods* Exercise, Discipline, Affection should be stickynoted to every new puppy!!
  15. I agree with spottychick- kids razzing the dog up- teasing it with toys and running around... I can imagine what followed. parents need some educating- newspaper needs some follow-up letters. R I P poor dog.
  16. Itchy people? paint yourself thoroughly with ascabiol,as directed..all over! everyone! We had to do this when April pig shared her brand of sarcoptes with us the dogs didn't get any- but we did .. drove me mental with the itch . had to vacuum madly- spray everything with a miticide spray ( I think it was bosisto's dust mite spray) we had loose covers on all furniture- washed and left in a garbage bag in the sun to kill the critters...clothes/linen were left out in the sun for about 4 days... took about 4 weeks for all the little buggers to die off completely .
  17. mumsy- there are basic tips/explanations IF YOU CLICK HERE also - have a read HERE and HERE, and HERE
  18. I would be surprised if the sarcoptes mites had been found in a chook waste compost .....sarcoptes mites are very host-specific.. and only live on mammals! They live their entire lives on the host animal.. but if dislodged, can survive up to a couple of weeks in a suitable environment. ( needs to be cool!) Most cases are from dog-dog transmission, but dogs can, occasionally be infected from the environment in which an infected dog has recently 'lost' a few mites . They may also be infected from foxes and /or possums- fox sarcoptes (AFAIK) are the same as the dog ones. Our dogs are all bathed immediately after any contact with mangy foxes....saves a bad infestation later on
  19. I use a rope from cheapaschips- a green colour- and has some elasticity in it ..VERY long, doesn't collect prickels dragging on the ground, either.I attached swivels/carabiners to the ends, and it works well.
  20. Yep - hopefully your chosen breeder can mentor you- and get you started on your education!
