Our Clydesdale Horse (thirty Years Young) With The Dogs
persephone replied to newfsie's topic in General Dog Discussion
OH- Isn't he just lovely oh- are there dogs in that photo? *goes back to check* -
From memory- it is just a lozenge shape

I think bite inhibition is used by a dog in a controlled situation. In a reactive situation I believe the dog bites hard.

GSD owner- I can understand your concerns ..however, I believe as dog owners it is OUR responsibility to make sure our dog is as safe as can be reasonably expected when/if faced with the unexpected! These days none of my dogs go to town.. some years back, with my Kieran (Dane X deerhound, 45 kg brindle ) I socialised him like nobody's business .. in town/shops/ with kids... mainly because he was bred to be a pig dog- we rescued him, and I had NO idea what temperament he had... Anyhow- he was bombproof - except for teen males and drunk men. Suited me fine ;) Kids used to run up and hug him- he would slurp icecreams from toddlers ... and everyone just loved him My current dog is ok with older kids- supervised carefully, but I am not confident. The snippet you pasted about children startling a dog.. I think the relevant point there is that was written for dog OWNERS- it refers to 'YOUR DOG'- and yes, it is important to teach your own kids about dogs and behaviours the linkHERE is an interesting online book , dealing with this subject. The project, of which th ebook is part, can be found HERE ermmm.. there is quite a lot involved, really

I feed supercoat to puppies with brilliant results- little 'logs' from day one always Maybe give him some probiotic supplement, and alternate raw & dry (altho I don't think it matters)..but perhaps all the chiopping and changing isn't helping? I tend to agree with PF- pick a food- eg: the premium dry, and stick with it! Moisten it with warm water, offer it twice a day, remove any uneaten.... and that's that. See how he goes .His tummy will then just have the one thing to digest ,and he will know that there is nothing more attractive on offer, so if he's hungry- he eats what's in his bowl. Or. just offer chicken mince/necks for a few days and see what happens. NO other foods/treats table scraps additives. see how his poo is after 3 or so days... and gradually work back to whatever suits him, and has what he needs.

that's good news!!

LOVE slippers with fur!!

I strongly suggest put a post up in training.. asking for recommendations for a trainer in your area. I think one-on one professional help is the way to go here. ASAP. This is much better handled with someone alongside you - who can see the body language of all parties

Around here it is common knowledge that if someone's dog strays and chases stock- it will never get home. Those dogs caught in the act should have been euth'd.AND the owner should have been made to pay all costs.

Hopefully he is on nutrigel and liquids at least? he is obviously feeling very poorly Hamlet had an obstruction , had surgery and stayed in Hosp for a few days ..he was eating canned stuff in Hosp. he was only young, and so I guess that helped . Hope your boy picks up soon. try him with some rescue remedy!

She could well be allergic to the AB's , or the chicken, or anything, really I would be seeing a different vet- honestly.... poor girl.

Do you go to any obedience school sessions? They may be helpful in that they can show you the basics The BEST and most effective (tho not cheap) thing I can think of is to get a few private sessions with a good trainer (recommended thru here;) ) . That way you have someone with you who can see exactly what the problem is, and give you the knowledge to fix it! It is hard for online advice to be really exact, as we cannot see you and your dog walking - there are good experienced trainers on DOL, so advice will be worth having- but personal one-on-one training is the ideal!

The safest and most effective is to dig/rake/pull You are going to have to rake/move the dead/dying stuff anyway -

Collecting For The Poor & Needy...
persephone replied to persephone's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Nooo Treats are not a common occurrence with me -
looks like a VERY nasty case of hives - poor girl, maybe consider getting her some allergy testing done...so you are aware of the triggers. and now think back to ANYTHING slightly different she could have been exposed to yesterday..... Hope she loses her lumps during the day, and that you all get a good sleep tonight! Best of luck at the vets. ps: I can sympathise- I have been like that due to a msg allergy. eyes swollen shut-the works!

he does get donations sometimes..... usually he has a butter container ! -
Poor girl- possibly an allergic reaction- hopefully the other vet can give her something to settle it! She may well have been stung by something, or breathed in something or.... Hopefully she will be fine soon

What about a toy or two from the aussiedog range ? LINK
-
That's an impressive lot of stitches!
-
lovely! Hope their sickie gets well soon
-
I start any of ours off with "gimme" for a toy ,as we play They get praise or a treat for giving it to me, or letting me take it. They also get it straight back! heaps of repetitions of this, usually leads to the dogs racing up to me with bones/dead things/stolen items........usually I also teach YUCKY! which means spit it out NOW,and leave it there. ! Very useful ,tho not 1000% reliable- for nasty /dangerous things they may grab. bc_girl- welcome, and I hope we can help you and your dog to a better understanding
