  1. Good plan for indoors, yes! ..nice large pen with lots of interesting stuff in it ! here is one video for ideas
  2. ..and while she is a teeny baby , she will ...like all babies . Sleep for a few hrs ..explore/eliminate/eat .....sleep ... and repeat Not sure what it's like in London ..but here , until fully vaccinated, pups should not go walking out & about for fear of contracting disease .... Now, of course, you can take her wherever you want in a carrier , or sling, or pushchair , so she can get some experience of the outside world
  3. Hi, and welcome It is hard on pups/dogs when folks work long hours - they need to be 'in solitary' for the greater part of every 24 hr period ..and it can mean that puppies miss out on experiencing much of life ... the wind, shadows , different scents during the hours of daylight ..little sounds in the grass ... the chance to run/dig ..hunt crickets in the hedges ..all that sort of thing ;) developing senses and muscles do best with much sensory input, obviously .... Hopefully you will eventually get a roofed and fox proof outdoor area for her ... I have no doubt your Urban foxes are bold, and hungry!! Please have a read of this thread ..all sorts of conversations on new pups & peoples' routines ... CLICK HERE
  4. Ohhh.... having to diet ? poor Trouble .. Thankx for the update ...things are progressing , sadly ..thinking of you.
  5. What an awful shock for you ... I can in no way help, except to advise you write everything down ..add any videos/photos/vet reports you have , notes on the surgery which was done /drugs given /how she was nursed at home by you ..and names of the vets and other staff .and contact the practice manager in a way which is asking - not accusing ... ...you still have your beautiful Sally <3 Whatever the diagnosis .. she is with you and you love her very much
  6. brilliant ! http://story.newspets.info/doggo-supposed-guarding-sheep-work-ethic-internet-stitches.html
  7. Interesting choices Exciting time ! What has changed pet-wise since you had the whippet puppy ? Do you still have indoor cats /birds? have you spent any more time around dogs , or read up on training & things ? Did you want a pup, or an adult ?
  8. And .... Pudden modelling his new accessory ... ;) - at least it's a fashionable purple ! <3 necessary because he is an inveterate food /rubbish scrounger when on walks This model IS a 'treat-capable' model , once the wearer masters the correct head tilt ;) . He's almost there! food is a great motivator !!
  9. Is the pup the only male/female ? does it have a very good example of coat marking for the breed ? Is it a lot larger or smaller ? AS you have not interacted with the pup ...is there no other littermate with markings/colour/coat type that would suit?
  10. Ouch that would feel terrible. is the breeder registered with the state's Dog Authority ? eg : Dogs NSW have you actually 'met' the pup in question , or did you choose from photographs ?
  11. Another week Spotted this yesterday at a dinky-di country Show .. she was right at the end of a row of stalls ..and neighbours were all out & competing .
  12. Time to go back to the treating vet ..... the clinic has your dog's history and knows much more about him . Haven't they been helpful ? aah ..I just found your other post .
  13. I hope it turns out not to stem from anything sinister ..and that it settles Thanks for the update .
  14. If he is prevented from digging ..then climbing/jumping may well be next on his skills list , unfortunately
  15. Welcome You are right to be concerned - Your dog is finding more interest and excitement away from your home . - YOU and where you live should be SUCH a fabulous spot that he never needs to wander ... YOUR RULES and psychological boundaries also need to be reinforced to keep him at home . Good physical boundaries - definitely !! A single young and very fit dog dog will get bored very quickly unless he spends a lot of time 'working' his brain with his humans ..not just roaming/walking . They enjoy training, doing tricks , LEARNING ... to carry things .. to pick things up off the ground for you ..put toys back in boxes ....to do all sorts of stuff ..and to be well rewarded for this brain work LOL ..I was almost about to suggest teaching ParKour ..that could be a big mistake . mostly, he needs your attention /company . To be with you indoors & out ....possibly on a long leash outside while communications are established ? It will take some time
  16. This was 'a thing' in 2010 apparently . The cabinet could be used for dogs & cats . I was horrified watching the video ......
  17. I have only ever worked with one newfy ..but so VERY different from a labrador ... especially the size and amount of grooming care needed Congratulations on doing your homework .............. and YES .Do be sure to take lots of time to see different Newfs , to check out nutrition, health and , especially training needs ! ( I have been met at the door by a trained and very well kept newfy who was also the family guard - an 'interesting' experience , even when I knew this girl was under control ...they are amazingly powerful and loud !!) She was owned by a decades- long experienced trainer, and was a gorgeous dog
  18. Another week .... Don & his shadow .... Don & my asparagus 'harvest' LOL!!
  19. Not as a regular thing ..but as cat food usually smells strongly - I often use it to tempt older dogs ..or use the dry pieces as treats .
  20. Very True ! he is set in his ways ..has all his humans trained 'just so'... and may not want his peaceful life interrupted by another dog in his territory gee..he was stunning as a youngster took this from 2007 post of yours .
  21. my dogs have not ever been obtained from a rescue ..my present cat was I wanted a female, ..one which had been in foster care , had all vet work done , and had certain temperamental traits The shelter took all my details , and eventually I was introduced to my perfect cat companion It worked very well.
