Pepi- I am so sorry you are feeling very bad :D Your little dog has been fighting such a hard fight these past weeks , and his body was just worn out. The vets were keeping him going for you, but he obviously was very ,very , tired, and had to stop. You no longer have him warm to cuddle, but, after they die, I always like to think of a dog's spirit, romping over the bridge, and racing around, ears flapping in the breeze, smiling, and pain free! I am sure that is a true picture- I honestly believe they ARE somewhere- happy and comfortable forever. Thinking of you - it will be very hard for a while.. it is not your fault, and not the vet's fault. It was Pepi's tiny body that badly needed a rest ,and it was his time. Take care

Help Please... Buying Havanese Puppy From Uk
persephone replied to flip's topic in Breeders Community
Buying a puppy in a hurry is probably not a good plan ;) Lines need to be researched, and you need to do your homework with regard to the breed's requirements , etc. Hope you eventually get a lovely pup eta LINK to available puppies in D O L listings -
Sorry, Mum, put your dog in a kennel .

nicolatu - he is a BABY. babies love being with their family babies get very tired. Babies cannot concentrate on one thing for more than a couple of minutes. Please play with him outside - sit outside and have your coffee, let him be with you out there, and let him play. It may help you to pretend to think like a puppy- smells are very important- so are things he hears taste is very important, and texture- all felt with his mouth, as he has no hands!

As for picking up your pup - I once picked up an adult lab I was training, when we were attacked by a very determined GSD. One just reacts in those circumstances- and you did what you thought was the right/safe thing The more I hear of parks, and dog parks in particular, the more the idea worries me I would think they would be places frequented by people who have difficulties walking/controlling their dog/s- the idea being they can let them off to run at the park

Hope it went Ok at the vets, and that you have notified the breeder.

How scary! Glad your pup is ok...and I hope you will now show him some calm leadership when next there is a challenging dog close by.This is the only way he will heal from today's fright..for you not to tense/worry/take evasive action... The owner of that dog sounds as if she needs some serious educating :D Hopefully today has taught her a lesson or three. These days,No Way would I take a baby puppy to a park, especially one where dogs were offlead- there are just too many dangers, both from disease and attacks .

firstly- use a soft plastic/rubber dropper. fill it- then run under warm water to warm stuff inside. secrete it under a cushion, or something ... then get dog lying on his side if possible, pat him, rub his ears, then drop the liquid in... Not do-able? then maybe a head collar would help make him feel a bit more constrained, and allow you to direct his head movements a bit more?

For dig proof flooring, an easy way is lay wire reinforcing mesh on the ground-erect the run over it--- cover with soil/gravel, and 'bob's your uncle'! Drains well, dig proof, and needs no council hoo haa!It is what we use :D

Sorry Molly was hurt, and glad it was not worse. You ,unfortunately, can't rely on 'hope' :D a roofed and floored run is the only solution, it seems. Yes, Guide Dogs are taught to stop (without human cues) at the approach of a vehicle..however, I doubt that would carry over to a dog running wildly along a road. Unfortunately, the more she escapes, the cleverer she will get at working out HOW

Council Says Our Dogs Are A Disturbance At Night
persephone replied to sandra64's topic in General Dog Discussion
Perhaps he came to you first as the people who reported roaming dogs had not yet seen the 'recently moved in' neighbour's dogs, and only knew of yours?? At least he IS investigating ! -
wot PF said . Perhaps teh pup is unhappy/anxious about the training - how are you teaching the 'down' ?

you can ask at a pharmacy, or some bigger supermarkets, but a health food store would be helpful get one with a high UMF rating.... it will help kill any nasties, and soothe the throat :)It's not cheap :D

kennel(Canine) cough is a virus- so antibiotics are unneccesary UNLESS there is a secondary lung/throat bacterial infection. Most cases I've know do get better themselves :D I think incubation is around a week.... an important thing to realise is that the virus acts on the dog's windpipe "just' where collars go! S0- collars/walking on leash will usually make them cough more Rest, warm, manuka honey, benadryl cough mix.... all will help her feel better .Any gunky eyes, snotty nose, lack of appetite- then a vet visit.

Can't you just block off the stairs at the bottom? ' hanging on' too long isn't good for them,really... find a babygate or dash out & buy a length of lattice or something :D

find the cause and ,hopefully remedy it

however , maybe not for a puppy I agree- a behaviourist can come and see the set up, see his behaviour, and see how you interact with him There are bound to be strategies which you can use to help .

How Foul Is This Ad?! 'pig Dogs' Killing...
persephone replied to UltimatePup's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Nothing too brutal there, U P ( I could only see two photos) One photo was 3 dogs holding(or trying to) a small pig The other photo was a dead pig displayed for the photo, and the dog trying to avoid the camera (and dead pig!!) In many national parks/private properties, firearms are NOT permitted. So- How to dispose of feral pigs? One way is for hunters (hopefully experienced) to go in with trained dogs and very sharp knives. The dogs are 'finders; and holders. Some will scent the pigs and follow the trails... Then dogs will grab an ear etc and hold the pig until the humans can come and use their knives on the jugular or somewhere where an almost instant death occurs. Yes, it is noisy and may look messy- but it can be very effective! I am pleased to see the description of this dog - she has obviously had a lot of work put in , and the asking price is reasonable , IMO. These dogs must work out of sight of their owners a lot of the time, so need to be smart and TRUSTWORTHY and solid in temperament. While I would have liked to see the dogs with protective vests on... a good dog will not put itself too near the 'pointy end' of a pig -
Any pups we have are fed supercoat and raw- no problems or complaints here
