  1. go to a doctor so the injury is on record. report the incident.
  2. Try him on fresh raw meat - lamb flaps are great for putting weight on- but introduce them slowly.... the good (expensive ) dry foods may help you as well.
  3. what a terribly inept piece of writing that is . The organisation was NOt the Institute for the Blind,it was Royal Guide Dogs Ass'n. ConrAn should be ConRON , they are not 'seeing eye dogs', they are Guide Dogs... yipes! I will definitely read the magazine article , have just bought my copy..... Hope it is of better quality than that snippet. (and yes, I do know of what I speak Wally was my boss at that time )
  4. Hope all is OK with your dog ... allergies can be very nasty when such a violent reaction occurs , so here's hoping she is feeling better this morning
  5. Can't someone have their mobile in hand, but switched onto video? The pics- even a few seconds of well chosen footage would be valuable .You could hold it , and look into pens or whatever...
  6. silverblue- I have seen dogs of several breeds kill /critically injure other dogs . Labrador adolescents, for one example. Whilst there are some which may have NO prey drive/pack instinct ..I think, dogs in general do have the propensity to act in this manner. Not saying it is common, or usual- but it is there in the dogs' make-up, I believe. It is the way I look at dogs always... that they have the potential to revert to instinctual behaviours
  7. Hmm. Whilst it is not socially acceptable in today's civilised world , I honestly don't think it is aberrant behaviour Dogs in a pack will kill other animals... even tiny dogs.
  8. I also would not knowingly take on a dog which had killed another dog. Very sad situation all round.
  9. May I suggest you feed her AWAY from next door's fence..and feed her using THIS If you need more help, ask for trainer recomendations- lots of DOL members have successfully used professional help, and word-of-mouth recommendations are the best way to find someone suitable
  10. A 14 mth entire lab boy! he really would benefit from, and learn some manners by doing more obedience work each day, plus more on lead, controlled walking- so his brain has to work...this makes for a much more settled dog, generally.
  11. aahh- yes, that is why it is YOUR job to train her ;) It is your job to make sure she is taken outside very often, shown where to go ,and praised for complying. Unless she is to stay indoors, I believe getting her to use this new thing will be confusing- she may then not bother to go outside at all- she knows she is allowed to pee indoors!!
  12. May I answer this? I know of this dog personally.... it has depression, and PTSD, due to being famous. The goggles are special rose-coloured glasses, which makes this poor dog MUCH happier and content .
  13. Do you have one of those black maltese terriers, but with blue eyes? My Mum would LOVE one like that
  14. Well- they've gotta have something to play with, Mum .....
  15. you can try here... LINK I thought boxers were supposed to have some black on them?
  16. Some more questions... just so we know a bit more about you and your dog/s Is the lab desexed? When you say 'long walks' ..how long? 1 hour? 30 minutes? is this every day, or twice a day? or once a week? What obedience training do you do at home? Do you go to any dog training clubs? I bet he does love the water! They look terrific when they are playing around and getting wet What do they do when indoors- you say they trash the house- do they chew/run/toilet? .... perhaps we can help you with some ideas to settle them down ...then with a new feeding regime- and indoors, barking should not be an issue
