  1. Aahh this is the hard end of owning a dog . for you . I try hard to look at it from the dog's POV. Is she comfortable more than uncomfortable? Is she sleeping well? Is she enjoying food ? Is she able to toilet independently and normally? Is she still interested in what's going on? Is she still 'happy' looking? Do her eyes have a sparkle? I also prefer to send a dog over the bridge before I 'have to' . Before they cannot get up, before they are usually incontinent, before their eyes go dull and tired, and before they are in pain more often than not. I like to know they are still happy somewhere in there, that I have saved them from days/weeks of being miserable because they can not be a dog. I do not keep a dog alive just for me.
  2. What a wonderful machine DOL is when it cranks up! So many, with so much to offer in the way of skills ,communication and caring. *virtual pats on the back for the ones doing the hard work* Thank you for the update, steve Sends more thoughts & prayers Jed's way. Surely she can feel them all ?
  3. SoL- yes- picasa is free- and very easy to use (which is why I use it first to fix minor stuff It certainly is a 'rough' fix- but can often just be enough if you want to try it- have fun...BUT during setup- make sure you tell it to NOT upload stuff unless you give permission- otherwise it will grab every image off your computer and organise them for you (which you may want - but I don't know :D ) THIS may help also, Have a look here I am a PICASA addict - have used it to organise my photos for about 4 years ..and also , as I said it is my first port of call for minor editing .Otherwise I use PhotoPos Pro and the beta trial version of Lightroom ;) You have some gorgeous photo opportunities there!

  6. Shite - condition critical? Hopefully it will change to something more hopeful soon. Hey, Jed - you should be able to feel our love & thoughts. hang in there!
  7. I hope he can be responsibly rescued/rehomed- He is so young yet ...
  8. Sorry- but how can the owner ask for money? The pound should deal with any release themselves? poor dog. He also should not be sold as an entire male
  9. Oh ;) Sending jed thoughts & prayers .. God speed the dogs over the bridge .
  10. You have to make the toy more desirable than YOU . You either have him interacting with you.. or you have him interacting with a toy hard to expect a baby to be lying with you and not want to use his mouth - after all - that is how baby pups learn about their world! I would suggest if you want you pup to learn to be more 'independent' and spend time chewing- then get him a nice raw BONE . put him on his mat/bed..and let him chew ;) For a little pup like that- a lamb/beef rib or even a turkey wing will keep him busy !
  11. Oh The boys will be feeling all sorts of things . How tough for you. Please don't tell them she 'ran away'....not sure how you are going to manage- but I woul strongly suggest professional help ASAP - human and dog ;)
  12. + 1 Also, being that none of us here can see what sort of a handler you are with this pup, it is really difficult for us to suggest help regarding what to do around the home. As others have already mentioned, I too am of the opinion that perhaps there needs to be more calmness created by the adults in a general sense and a lot more calm, structured handling of the dog. With the child having these issues, there needs to be even more handling of this dog in a calm, controlled manner than in any other pup in household situation. ie pup laying quietly on mat, pup in crate, pup in house on leash. Lots of quiet sitting and stays in down position. Very difficult for any pup, let alone this wonderfully lively breed, but something that is a must to embark on if there is any chance of the child over coming this fear. I also recommend getting your girl some councelling/psychology. It is going to be a huge task to take on. Probably doable. but, if you are not up for the hard yards, perhaps rehoming the pup might be best for all concerned. Just MO +2
  13. Naah- the dogs hate it - you have to move back! Looks fabulous!!! ;)
  14. What a pretty spot ;) I did something which I do not normally do/encourage I changed the scenery somewhat , and removed a couple of distractions... I also tried to bring out a bit more of the colour/detail... just a 2 minute play , using PICASA
  15. Our dogs howl if the man of the house isn't home by dark. They howl when some of them have been away for some time working elsewhere, and are back for the first night. They howl if there is a bitch in season. They howl if they are restless..... there are other times as well. I love listening to a pack howling
  16. What a lovely glimpse into the day of two cuties !
