  1. Thank you She's a pretty girl - and will be even more so when we can see her little body under its insulation I am guessing she will , in time, look a bit like THIS ONE (click here) Her sheepskin bed looks so nice!!
  2. Train your pup to toilet on command Then YOU can (most times) control where he /she leaves their mess. I much prefer dogs not toileting on walks... and make sure they do so before we go anywhere . Teaching a dog to toilet in response to a command is not too hard - just repeat the chosen word each time the dog STARTS to toilet.. and treat/praise enthusiatically. Then , after a few times of this- use the word as soon as you take pup out to the chosen area... then madly praise as soon as the begin! Soon , you will have a dog who will happily toilet upon you saying the words.. whether it be at home, or in another spot. It makes life SO much easier !
  3. hey, rat- I can ,indeed empathise with you ! Losing my deerhoundxdane years ago to bloat .. Hamlet (cockerXkoolie, but deep chested) causes me SO many clenched teeth and worry Is he drinking too quickly? Does he look big in the tummy? why is he eating grass??? :D With your girl- she may well just have one of the tummy bugs going round ( see jaxx;s buddy's thread) Hopefully she is Ok again soon! Now- BREATHE
  4. Hey, Bridie- can we have some photos of your little girl So we know who we are sending healing and active thoughts to ? Now ... "Breathe" slowly and with a smile..... remember- YOU are going to help her get happy !
  5. poor little dogs - poor Travolta Family - and I'm not sure what to say about the person who was supposedly watching out for the dogs
  6. That sounds, good, jaxx's buddy! keep her on the yoghurt/probiotics .. and hopefully she will be even brighter tomorrow!
  7. Bridei- I am so sorry the vet started the surgery and then stopped. That must have been a shock. However- if that weight is correct- then your poor little dog has a dangerous amount of fat to carry around ..and her hips/heart/lungs may all be feeling the strain She needs you to be strong now- to help her get back to a healthy body :D As said , feed her half of what she is now getting , with NO treats (unless it is part of her daily ration) It will be very hard for you to do- but it WILL HELP HER ! So - be cheerful for her - keep her happy and interested in watching/doing things .. :D Split her daily ration in two - feed her twice a day . If she is getting dry food- then put it in a treat ball or even a small plastic soft drink bottle and make her 'work' to get her food (when her leg's healed a bit) She will be SO much more comfortable as her body gets back to a normal shape - a lot of the strain will come off her joints, too! Keep us posted- come in here to 'yell' if you want . It's all positive from here- you are helping your girl to feel better - as of today!
  8. for you - and hoping Molly is home again soon
  9. Sounds much like it ..... Or else she's just seeing if her mouth will open wiiiiiide enuff!!
  10. Perhaps she has lost some of the muscle mass off her skull, so the bone appears as if it's higher??
  11. here are our two old bags who fight.... half asleep on 'their chairs' Butter wouldn't melt.....
  12. BeardieXborder with a dash of terrier ? No wolfy that I can see ..not that size. She looks a sweet girl !
  13. Both Irfanview and The Gimp hurt my brain Can't use either
  14. Chicken necks are great- but buy the bigger ones, so your pup doesn't try and swallow them whole They can get stuck! You can also feed her chicken wings, and turkey wings/necks! these are terrific because the pup/dog can munch up the whole thing .. they get meat and bone and have a good time doing so! A chicken neck is just that! the neck cut off a chicken body ,and minus the head ;)They are all cleaned... kinda look like bony sausages . ;)If you buy some ... store them in teh freezer, so they stay fresh. You can feed them frozen- it encourages chewing, and keeps pup busy longer
  15. I like the angle And the corrugations ! The dog's head does seem to be not quite in focus ...
  16. I don't think IW's come in Black & white?
  17. I always use Supercoat puppy for ours , and LOVE the results pups grow well, poo is not in huge quantities ,or loose, and the pups are shiny coated , and satisfied. By all means change to a better brand ..BUT feed her on this for the first week or two- so as not to upset her tummy ... there will be all sorts of changes happening, one more is unneccesary when you DO find a food you want to use- then GRADUALLY decrease the supercoat, and add the new food each day until she is only eating the new food
  18. Oops- poor penny As you said tho- it would have been worse if left - Don't blame yourself- adrenaline does make us do things we wouldn't normally .
  19. dagmar- Jaxx'sBuddy is taking the dog to the vet this morning- this has been going on for a week - and there is more detail on symptoms in post 5 Jaxx;s buddy- hope everything went ok this morning!
  20. Last night , I was searching for free editing prog's ( use a few different ones- depending on what I'm doing - they are all different) and found THIS little gem yes, it is limited- but does do the basics quite well, and at 1.9 MB won't clog up the works!! ;)
