  1. Good morning? Too early for any news yet I guess. Everyone has great 'morning hair' I stopped by the bakery and grabbed some fresh crusty bread..and here's a jar of homemade apricot jam too The doggies are being SO good ... *goes *
  2. and may I suggest that ,as none of us have actually seen the dog's and childrens' body language/interactions we don't really know what "this situation" is . good point , cos.It takes time and effort on everyone's part. I also questioned the tactic of having the kids avoid doing things with the dog... however ,it seems this a temporary thing until the trainer sees them again... with , hopefully, some new strategies to help . Lucy's mamma- fingers crossed for you
  3. The spirit in this waiting room, with its steaming coffeemugs, relaxed doggies and generous people ..... A song for jed
  4. Just popped in- I smelt the muffins :p Thankyou. Can't stay , but here is today's Weekend Australian to share .Hopefully there'll be news lateron.
  5. Lucy's mamma- I don't think there is an 'age' . It all depends on the dog's intent when the mouthing/nipping occurs ,IMO. Puppies can be very loud, rough and mouthy- but not aggressive. puppies can also be straight-out aggressive. .... from an early age . Of course, I have NO idea whether your dog is being just forceful and not in control.. or if he is being aggressive. My opinion only....
  6. SO glad toohey stuck her head 'round the door with that snippet Thanks! *breathes* S'ok.. someone can have my seat for a while - must sleep a bit now .Save me some donuts please ?
  7. Hi Where did you get your puppy (love the name! ) ..and what was she fed ? has she ever had an accident /injury as a baby? What is her history/ancestry? Can you get a photo or two of her just standing straight & still ,maybe ? There are lots of folks on here hwo are good at picking problems like this Hopefully you will get some better idea !
  8. What an interesting concept Well Done!
  9. It feels right, sitting in here ,people & their furries, being companionable, and waiting for jed Glad there are more couches now !
  10. - any room for me ? I have games on my phone to play whilst waiting You can keep your remote ! Oh- very pretty flowers ! They really brighten the place up
  11. So many of the tinned foods are made to be very appealing.......to OWNERS they look like we would like food to look - so we think it's good . the dogs enjoy the flavours .. so we feed it . There is a LOT of water in it - and usually flavourings etc ... it is kinda like doggy junk food,IMO Ok if you are travelling, or dog is feeling like not eating because of the heat or being pregnant ,or something ... What you spend on tinned food- perhaps buy fresh
  12. Pup would not have sent if it was mine.... photos would have been taken... and the company higher-uppers notified. Pup probably would have also been quarantined The mess in the crate may have been from a travel-sick anxious dog... or it may have been an ill dog YUK.
  13. No ticks here- and flea activity is minimal in winter- so only when needed.
  14. fair enough, it's just that you seem to have no specific strategies to use on Banjo to show him that his behaviour is unacceptable..... what did she suggest to do when he DOES mouth/nip/walk away?
  15. Apologies but if this behaviour is still occurring and escalating - then she may be great, but perhaps her methods are ineffective ?
  16. OK- may I suggest you find a trainer who CAN help!! If you ask- I am sure someone here has used/knows of someone who will be able to help you . I agree it is a worry with kids ....sorry it is such an anxious time and telling you to stop the kids doing stuff which brings on the behaviour is avoidance- NOT training., IMO. I can't really tell you strategies- I cannot see your kids, or the dog... which is why the best way is to have someone come to your house and work with you all.
  17. PLEASE bear in mind if you are setting one of these up ... you need a LARGE clear area .. no shrubs/trees,roots,pots /fences within the range of the length of the tether, and about a metre besides - so dogs CANNOT reach anything with their front paws , and risk injury by tangling/jumping. If you are wanting to do TWO - the dogs must not be able to get within a metre of each other at least- to avoid tangling/strangulation. Also- with these cables - if not kept reasonably taut..they can get tangled around feet/legs. For a running line I prefer a heavyish chain as the tether. Building a run is actually a lot less stressful! And safer for your dog. It doesn't need to be very expensive- pavers/fence panels(2nd hand is fine) ... small amount of roofing material .... depending on the dog's size- even 2nd hand aviaries/chook pens will do .
  18. For how long? Sounds as if Banjo needs some educating ... so he CAN be handled .he is a teenager, and is being horrible. Ok- you are doing training, but what specifics are you doing to ensure he is safe to handle, and so he sees the kids as 'pack leaders' ? There may be some useful info in this link LINK
