  1. MM- your birdbath frog is indeed a litoria peronii , also known as an emerald-spotted tree frog , or maniacal cackle frog They are th eonly frog with that shaped pupil!! real characters.. and they are the ones who inhabit our outdoor loos etc. This year we must have had hundreds around the place- no joke! I counted 15 in teh toilet one day- we rescued nearly 50 out of the can recycle bin......
  2. The foggy dog is Hamlet - he was having a drink after racing round annoying everyome else
  3. indeed Older dogs can often be the perfect choice ! But do 'some people' want an unhousetrained old dog .... or one who may be aggressive towards males? (this is IF the teeth problem can be sorted...poor little man.
  4. Well, I think your dog is very lucky!!! have a read HERE an extract or two...
  5. .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I will happily trap mice in the grey-onesnapand you'redead-traps. I will never use those sticky things again, I did, ONCE. Can you imagine... having glue stuff all on your feet..then your skin..then most of your body.. hours spent wriggleing and screaming and trying to get free- all the while getting more stuck? They are one of the cruellest thingsI have seen (and if you haven't seen/heard the mice caught in these things- don't go out of your way to.) I am NOT a softy ... I will shoot rabbits, trap and shoot cats/foxes.. but a quick and humane death is all I will countenace these days. Stickytraps, and 'humane' traps are NOT either. :D
  6. Sorry, This OLD dog who needs a GA to have rotten teeth done-who is not housetrained, and who may well be aggressive toward males..is not a dog I would recommend for an elderly person. I would also not be keen to rehome him at all... poor old man. let him drift off peacefully without disrupting his life anymore ..... Assaid there are so many younger dogs , housetrained dogs ....
  7. *yawn* Morning all... *unwraps some mc breakfast thingies* help yoursleves jed- Hope you had a restful night, and can see some of the beautiful mornig from a window somewhere *trots down the hall in THIS direction.*
  8. Strong smelling urine may also be something they've eaten.. or because they are dehydrated, or a side effect of whatever caused the tummy upset... vet is recommended!
  9. Thank you, Toohey - No questions , just general info ;) Go jed!! ;)
  10. I think that method is reserved for cold blooded animals. It is not a 'kind' or quick way for a mammal to die ;)
  11. ;) fan of flank speys done 'keyhole' .. but that is a big scar! I would def. be a bit concerned about that lump...she is only small, and the lump is large un relation to her size .....Hope all goes well at the vets. Every time I see a pic of her- I think of GREMLINS after midnight !! ;)
  12. *Sniffffffff* aaaaaahhhhhhh ;) *sighhhhh* ;) It works! Thanks.
  13. if its dogs ANDcats- i would suggest ear mites as my first thought too. Did the vet prescribe any drops specifically for EAR mites?Or do a check for them in particular? Cats and dogs both need treating if it is . What 'spot ons ' do you use, and how often? these can be irritating in themselves.... Do you mean the dogs & cats wear insecticidal collars? These could be a cause of irritation ;)
  14. Just popping in - it is so nice to see the concerned and supportive folks all using the waiting room I have brought along a fruit platter - The last of the figs & pears..a few early mandarines, some walnuts and oranges ..all fresh! BBL
  15. I will try & be polite Why did you do this? The mice will have probably died from exposure/predation... and stress. Not a good way to go. and if they didn't.... National parks do not need any more feral animals competing with small natives for food/shelter. oh I hope you desexed them before rehoming
  16. yes we have way too many mice- but cannot use poison, as the guineafowl, cats/dogs/chooks/magpies/owls etc all eat mice , alive and/or dead. Too much risk!!
  17. It does sound good , and I hope you can now do your travel without worrying.
  18. They are dogs. they do not wonder why strange things happen to them... or hold grudges, or 'forgive' us ... they deal with any problems they perceive , and get on with what next seems interesting . they are sensible beings.
  19. Just set more traps! Those grey plastic ones will NOT hurt your dogs . Set them under cupboards/behing fridge/bookshelves etc.... also outside in sheds/garage etc.. When we have a few mice I can often set 10 traps a night.... blocking entry points is great- but realise a mouse can squeeze thru gaps you may push a pencil thru!
  20. Just thinking outside the box.... could it be a balance thing? perhaps she gets out of whack with the slight movements of the bed??? Some folks I know get very nauseous on a water bed!
