Meal In The Morning Or Evening Best?
persephone replied to loulouB's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Why not give a snack in the morning - and the rest at night ? -
There is a special spot over the bridge for gorgeous and dignified oldies like Rusky

Used under supervision - and chased/caught at ground level they are fun I have seen a dog choking form a tennis ball stuck after it was caught coming down from a great height! It was quite a bit of effort to save the dog.

I like that! She sounds fun - enjoy !
-
That was a good start I hope that following visits see both of you enjoying and learning

Good idea with those beds- The only prob. I found with tyres - that unless the dog concerned is very small- they can't stretch out and sleep on their sides very well . That rubber matting is a GREAT idea!!

Did you expect the speying to settle a pup down? I have never known it to - It's not just female hormones that determine behaviour genetics/environment/training are what does this , IMO. tattoos are done, AFAIK as a quick/easy way to determine if a bitch has been speyed , as there are no external signs . Glad genevieve hasn't let the op cramp her style!

poor poor thing To me it ooks like a dingo in the last stages of sarcoptic mange .. dragging/eating something. The body/head shape does not look like what I have seen of thylacine pics. We often see foxes look like this - it's awful They have a bit of hair on the top of their head, and a bit on the tail- the rest of the skin is a grey bald painful mess... and they die not long after from infection/lack of the skin's ability to 'breathe' / lack of mobility horrible horrible way to go.

It's mating season for foxes- they are driving us mad here with their noise

If you use skun chicken breast - and trim off visible fat - then the 'stock' should be fine to cook the rice My mum is on a very low fat /fat free diet- and this is fine for her :p

Ours wear collars always - they run, they work sheep, they play ..we have never had an incident with a collar .

If you can't afford that much- what happens if he breaks a leg, or gets a bad case of gastro or something? May I suggest you take out pet insurance now- so that , if something awful happens- you don't have the worries! :p Re the chewing - providing he USES his toys- and they are what HE wants/likes - perhaps then give him some things to interact with- like soccer balls and a KONG, stuffed with his dinner and frozen ? maybe make him iceblocks ? put kibble/ small pieces of meat/fruit in an icecream container- fill with water.. freeze solid- then tip out on teh concrete/grass for him Make sure his walks everyday are long enough, and that his daily training sessions are full of new things! Long walks and busy training sessions exercise body and brain . Playing is ok- but doesn't really work brain or body ... Labs are striong and energetic dogs - and need lots to do to satisfy this.

Insurance company - did you get photos ? Or landlord . Also the trucking company - they will have records of teh job- so there should be no argument that they were there ! -
For outdoor kennel - if you can get your hands on some RAW wool ..just bundle that in there! Our dogs have it as bedding - either straight, or in old chaffbags .No fleas- holds warmth amazingly well ..conforms beautifully to the dog's body ..and is supportive - and not pleasant to chew , so doesn't encourage it also have a look HERE , maybe?

KtB Good to hear that Elbie is enjoying new things !You are doing well. Do we get to see new photos of him ? With bones- I was always told to scoop out the marrow before feeding It is fat! Sometimes it can give pups the runs:( .... We sometimes have pups/dogs the same sort of size as your boy- and they chew up lamb flap (cut into about 10 cm. squares)/chicken frames from about 12 weeks- no problem - they can use all their teeth, with these bones, chewing different ways- and it is a meal Marrow bones are ok occasionally as a plaything ... but I'd rather pay $5 for something the dog can eat :D Glad teething has started ! Sometimes you may notice a tiny bit of blood- but most times not. Lots of chewy things- but perhaps not rawhide- that might be a bit hard when he gets a bit more gummy in the process See how he goes. Some pups prefer softer bones..some just continue as normal :)He will let you know!
