Would you feed your dog pet mince?
persephone replied to Digbysmum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I buy pet mince from my butcher as it contains minced chicken frames ,hearts, livers ..much more of what a pup needs than meat minced for human use ..if intended as a meal ... I also feed a puppy kibble , and large meaty bones . -
..and that is a VERY big change poor lad. Even tho he & Hugo weren't best mates ..it was another dog ..smell, sound .... That, plus the stress his humans all have at present, and it's no wonder he is upset. The DAP collars are definitely worth a shot ...and something like this, perhaps ?

HELP! 12 Wk Female Puppy - Chronic UTIs
persephone replied to peach2310's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
have you checked the dosage of D mannose for a baby PUP her size ? remember..dogs aren't human . Cranberry is good usually /I have used cranberry in humans dogs & cats ..but not the D mannose sugar alone . The only baby wipes which should be used are water ones ..and very gently .....really there should not be a need to . i second the idea for a second opinion . it seems extreme for multiple courses of A/B's ..and a cone , etc etc all for a tiny pup yet .... -
Oh ! Glad she is now all free of nasties & ready to heal & enjoy life again you both will enjoy a more settled time !
-
That is an enormous amount of exercise ..even for a fully mature dog . It's great that you provide Kongs etc Apart from possibly doing damage to her developing joints ...what all this may be doing is just making her need more & more stimulation , so she is seeking it at home ...by digging . That is just a guess. What breed is she ? what else does she do with you ? What does she eat ? Does she dig anywhere in particular ?

Seizures: at what point do you start to medicate
persephone replied to koalathebear's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You've probably discussed this with a vet .. perhaps, as he ages , his blood sugar levels are not keeping stable , and seizure activity is result of hypoglycaemia? Maddy's mention of her dog's isulinoma made me think of this ..as a friend's dog had a similar problem . -
Children's probiotics for my dog
persephone replied to Christine_72's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It could just be the excitement of a walk/play .... I think the word you were seeking originally is 'peristalsis' . this can increase with exercise/excitement ............ you may well have had a 'nervous tummy' at some stage ... Obviously , if bowel contents are expelled sooner then planned ..they have not had as much liquid removed ..and so appear different from first thing in the morning , when the gut has been left to work along ,uninterrupted . -

ohhhh, poor Hoover - and poor you . it would be such a worry . Knowing a bit of how you are - I am VERY sure he is in the BEST of hands ..and that you have noted every possible trigger , ie: food/activity/environmental pollutant/chemical exposure etc Just based on friends' dogs who have been epileptic ..they waited for some time before medicating ..as adjustment to, and dosages of, different meds did alter their dogs for some time ...the drugs are pretty powerful , as you can imagine. -
is your dog infected? yes, you need good info. perhaps change vets . if, on the other hand , it is something you have found/heardof/read about ... perhaps you would be best served by contacting a Uni or somewhere like that . If it is an uncommon/newly discovered little beastie , your vet may not yet have the information - they do have an awful lot to learn /keep up with .

ONE attempt was made . headed off at the pass :P
