I am glad Emily is breathing better this morning! :laugh: Slip her a pinch of ester C powder each day, too keep the temp down in her bed- a dog with an infection/ fever does NOT need additional heat . if you are worried about the pups, then put in heat bags or something, so they can use them, but the bitch is comfortable. So many people have whelping beds/areas very warm for neonates, while bitches sit there puffing away, drinking heaps, and working much harder than necessary

If it were me, I would be contacting a vet again.... panting is hard work.. and suckling pups with an oxygen deficit is putting a strain on her poor little body Can you maybe hire a humidifier and put for her? MANUKA honey will help - she just a needs a little every so often ,so it coats her throat ..ordinary honey doesn't have the medicinal qualities ... Perhaps make sure she is not too warm , as well.......

Oh poor girl- no wonder she was having trouble getting air If she was off colour , that may have been why the birth was a bit difficult? Hoping the AB's kick in soon, and she can enjoy life again!

OK- the body does a fantastic job of processing all sorts of substances. However- I do still wonder , there are no long-term studies done, over generations of dogs/humans... because so many of the things present today have not been around all that long. No, I do not 'know' they are changing the way bodies work- how can I? I still do believe though that there are cumulative effects on living beings, from being in close proximity to the chemical load the modern planet carries . I do not believe that dogs/any animal euthed with the green dream are added to pet food ...and would be most suprised to know of any dog/cat added to same.

I was going to suggest you build her a safe DEN in your yard .... What sort of body language does she display normally, and inside, and in your yard, and then , when she is denned? Any photos... ?

ok.... but I have a query here- if we distract dogs when we see they are about to snap or whatever- does this then mean that issues are unresolved? The message doesn't get thru to the other dog, and the relationship is still unsure? I was just thinking pup is being a pain, and a pain... dog gets fed up , and is about to let pup know. Observant owner sees what is happening-- steps in .. dogs separate, distracted. Does pup then see another opportunity to be a pain again and take it, seeing as how he was not disciplined the first time...? (thanks the gods yet again that she does not live in a city and have to cope with all these modern day problems!!)

How frustrating :D Have you tried mixing in stuff like sardines, or liver, or some salami, or bacon, or roast chicken? provided he gets a bit of offal and some sort of fibre, mutton should be fine for him to live on . Do you make meals exciting ? or perhaps skip mealtime.. roll up the mush, or use a spoon, and perhaps use it as rewards for tricks. etc?

Agreed- If these two go at it when no-one's around, there could be a very nasty outcome :D Pehaps they can go on onlead walks together...?

No... I simply believe (yes, I am simple) that plants/animals'evolution has not caught up with the multitude of chemicals present in the environments in which we live. We are continually warned about the dangers to us of compounds in cigarette smoke, painkillers, alcohol, exhaust fumes,additives ... We are told to wear gloves when cleaning, as these things can be dangerous if absorbed.... to avoid certain plastics ... I assume from this that these things will do us harm. If absorbed, they need to be broken down in our bodies ... doesn't this mean that our systems need to work harder to cope with the load? With systems continually working to "clean up" the chemicals - bodies may well suffer . I am not an expert in anything , but I do believe certain things.

Using a chain leash ( you can buy them with nice padded handles ) does NOT stop his excitement or displaced aggression or whatever .. but it will discourage him from taking it out on the leash! What happens when you get him home, usually? Is it exciting- to take his leash of- get a treat, race around and inside .....? perhaps change things if this is the case! go home- keep him on leash.. do some obedience with him.. not much talking or playing , but nice quiet praise when he does good work ... then just matter- of -factly unclip him and without giving him a second glance- go about your business. No treats or anything...just ignore. This way, maybe racing to get home will lose some of its appeal?

*hint* use a leash which is a chain one .... stops leash chewers pretty smartly

I believe that dogs/humans have compromised immune systems simply because we are 'bathed' in chemicals - from the air, our food, cleaning/deodorising things/exposure to plastics... medicines...the list goes on So many dog owners throw chemicals at their 'pampered' dogs- internally, with endo/exo parasite controls, externally with baths/grooming products,and things used in kennels/houses to clean/disinfect...I guess vacc's come in somewhere ... Dogs eat treats/foods containing prservatives, colourings, flavours.... Nobody's system was originally designed to cope with all these things..and it is now showing .

that IS good news You both will learn - and whilst there will be those moments - they will not be as scary- cos now you have tools to use
