That Mum needs to have a think Puppy is probably quite badly injured .. kid is shook up, and bike rider is very lucky he didn't fall/get hurt. That is irresponsible parenting.

I don't know your rights etc.. Hoping your new puppy will be ok - it is sounding as if there is progress , which is good The breeder is sounding not very helpful or pleasant at this stage sending thoughts..

Haven't seen it-but vet visit is a very wise plan. Once we start to notice illness in birds it is often an advanced condition. Hope all is OK.

Waiting is hard...

OK. yesterday I was wandering taking photos .. and as I went to get closer to one area this handsome beast appeared .. all stiff legged and head down and barking /growling. I stood there for a few seconds- he kept approaching .. so I put my head down, and walked back to the car Must admit to losing all nerve:( he was a workman's dog ... he doesn't even live anywhere near! he came over to the car, and there was no response to being told how handsome he was and how good he was not to have eaten me .... just held his tail stiffer . I even gave him some chips- which he pee'd on!! Hmph !! Too sexy for ANYTHING, it seems Oh, and it was bark/induced DROOL hanging from his mouth ......

I'll take 3 of those little monsters please! The main thing to remember is NOT to fall prey to the cute puppy syndrome ..things like picking puppy up when it comes over and puts paws on your leg....

Rockdog- welcome to the D O L rollercoaster ! I know what it's like living away from the conveniences of a town/city... it does make things more difficult to access and plan to make use of . I am so looking forward to an update after you meet with folks in the 'big smoke'. Rocky is lucky he has an owner who is doing her darndest to ensure he can be happy and safe.

Being a mixed breed- he could turn out anything! However-- getting him as a pup, a lot of the behaviours he will have as an adult are ones YOU have taught him as a baby - so there is a pretty good chance he will be what you want .;) What does he look like? do you have a photo?Does he look like a JRT?

Maybe get him to kick a ball or two .. or a rattly toy she can chase? Doesn't matter of she just chases it :D Digging is great! they can share digging for toys !

:D *whispers* probably not a good game to play .. as she will rapidly grow , and still want to play chase and bounce Pups chasing kids and getting excited when they see kids running can often end in tears . Sorry, here I will disagree . It has been done before on teh forum, and will be again...and is certainly not done with any intent to be cruel. A frustrated angry and tired owner, with a puppy who is confused and unsure , that is cruel ;) Sometimes new puppy owners are dealt a rough hand, and find the best , and hardest ,thing to do, is to return a pup and wait for either a more appropriate pup, or a time in their life when they are more able to cope. I'm glad pup is enjoying outside I am all for pups playing outside ! I don't recall using the word horrible - I did use other words 'frustrated and sad and angry'.

Staffygirl 88 No we don't know you. I do know that you sound extremely frustrated and sad and angry. You have kids. You have an ill parent You feel let down by a supposedly trustworthy breeder You feel resentment towards the pup because it didn't come with all the good guarantees promised. OK As someone else said, perhaps now is not the best time for you to be copping yet another responsibility? perhaps now is not the best time to cope with a puppy. No disgrace there. Life happens, and often we just cannot do everything as well as expected. If you do want to continue raising this pup - then you need much more help/support than can be found in typed words. You and your pup will greatly benefit from a trainer working alongside you , tailoring a training style to suit you, your family and this puppy , who is going to grow into a dog who will be an ambassador for its breed .

I have never taken away a bowl from our dogs ... BUT they will give me what they are eating/holding when I ask ... and it is SO useful ;) I have taught this using the 'swap' game ... "You GIVE me your toy on command, you get something better , AND the toy back"...escalating to "You give me the bone , and you get something better , AND the bone back" to "You GIVE/DROP whatever is in your mouth NOW! you will get a treat ....and may get your prize back, if it is not yucky " A very handy thing.. and not one hand in a food bowl ever. Please contact a trainer who will come to your home and help you sort out some rules which suit you and your baby puppy... it will ease your frustration, and help set your pup up .

Please don't do this .... IMO there is no need, and it could end badly one time. If you really want to play around with a dog and food- just add a few treats to her bowl during a meal ... or do the 'swap' game ... giving her a treat when she brings you a toy ... then giving a treat when she brings you a bone.... bit this is in the future. For now she needs to eat in peace & quiet.

As a growing pup she needs the correct balance of minerals etc. IF you decied to use roo meat you would then have to provide bones, offal /veg to balance everything out .Some fat and gristle is GOOD for dogs, as is RAW bone,and offal. Now, a little trick. When she is asleep .... or outside .. put her meals on 3 little plates or in 3 saucers/bowls whatever. have them sitting in a cupboard.. and simply grab one at mealtime! NO anticipatory carryings-on :p I do recommend you start her on THIS at mealtimes ;)
