  1. Laid back, not boisterous ...sounds PERFECT ! ( but then again I'm no dog training afficionado )
  2. ?? That sounds a good plan Also- may I suggest that is not a case of 'bad aim' Bad aim,and suddenly realising that a human hand is in his mouth should , IMO,have been corrected by him very smartly .The fact he is still doing it suggests to me that he is enjoying whatever reaction he is getting when he does it ...and he may also be trying to remove the toy from your posession.
  3. Yep- poor Leroy- having a vet comfortable with not trying to isolate the allergen and give you a chance to know what to manage/treat . When my dog was allergic - life was not good .
  4. Agreed- why do it? Use food/praise and see how you go? Or try clickerwork - this works for some dogs
  5. check the ingredients, but I would think there would be no problem ..
  6. :D no coffee - my brain saw sms and registered phone
  7. No way would I have replied.... now he knows there is a female at the end of that number :D There is possibly no dog involved at all.... no coffee - retract that comment
  8. The mere fact that the dogs are of mixed breeds should be a BIG hint
  9. poor little dog The vet doesn't sound very specific. As this little dog will have at least 10 years of life to go thru.. I will suggest you think about having him properly tested ,so that you can manage the problem. Ten years of itching ...that's a long time. I had an allergic dog for many years- not fun .
  10. Please check with your vet .While I have heard of the sulphur/oil mix for killing mites, I have not heard of it for allergies ??? And , remember- itching is a form of pain .. so , yes- he will be most uncomfortable With such a small dog- dosage rates/types of anti histamines are best discussed with your vet- What is he allergic to? Contact with a plant, or grass or? It may be easier to remove the source of his allergy
  11. No... AFAIK all plants have flowers of some sort, - which attract bees .Perhaps there are some which all flower at th e same time ..so you can organise to leave her indoors or something for those weeks?
  12. Mortonplace , a question? You are suddenly the one who makes decisions pertaining to a) managing feral animals, and b) managing the overpopulation of dogs/cats. What would your plans be?
  13. Yes. for the cows. A well placed bullet provides an instant death . The NPWS shooting from choppers was ill advised, and marksmen were perhaps poorly chosen. :D
  14. The youtube clip is seriously 'something!' :D would be interested to find out what spurred the maker to produce it - there were obviously nasty happenings which hurt.
  15. It is a UK video ..... it is sad, and I have seen worse.
  16. yep - it is to help with shock/fear etc. A drop or two on her gums..or 3 drops on a patch of bare skin on her head every 20 mins or so when she is frightened
  17. Rescue remedy ..and just carry on as normal. A lot of dogs are terrified of storms/wind/noise. Hamlet used not to be- but now he is. he just either goes to his bed ..or curls up on the couch and shivers .... he gets his RR...and a blankie- but that's all I do. We have another old dog who is always that way.. she just goes to her box(bed) and pretends she's a turtle until things quiet down . I guess we are lucky that our dogs don't seek us out or get clingy - they just put themselves to bed I couldn't stand the clinginess
  18. The more you milk her, the more she will produce What did your vet suggest? They can probably prescribe something for her. if it were me, I would be drastically reducing her food, and increasing her exercise ... but if she has problems associated with the garlic- exercise may not be possible. Be guided by your vet after her tests. Sorry to hear about the problem
  19. Pads do take ages to heal If it's itchy it may be infected as well... or the bandage is irritating him .
  20. Babs is pretty Hope number 10 finds you soon
  21. Just had a look at that link.. some dates(Easter etc) on there are 2005!! perhaps they are no longer active?
  22. free range chooks and dinosaur birds/guineafowl scratch around in the shady type of spots snakes seek out .. they may also eat small rodents etc which may have provided snake food..and guineas especially will kill small snakes.Ours have ,regularly. They will also alert us to a snake's presence.
