  1. I know our youngsters often gulp down things which are too large.. and scream blue murder as it makes its way down.... whether this is what happened in your case, I don't know . Could have bitten his lip/tongue, could have got scratched by a bit of bone.... Hopefully he enjoyed the rest of it without incident:)
  2. This is not 'throwing up', it is regurgitation...and it is how many canines feed their young. Imagine a wolf with cubs .... the cubs are way too young to go hunting , so how do they get meat? Adults hunt, and gorge, and carry it back to the pups in their stomachs .... digestion is begun, the food is warm, and is a perfect start for the babies :D A lot of birds also regurgitate food- penguins for one , and parrots....
  3. Does she look interested when there's food around- either hers or yours? Does she seem keen to start with and then stop?
  4. noooo She may have been ultra stressed by the whole experience.. any chance she has a foreign body rumbling around in her tummy? Just enough to make her feel 'off' and nauseous? Is she otherwise completely normal??
  5. have a look HERE there are some, I guess which would have more data with them. THIS one has the camera used ... and THIS one has heaps of info in the 'tags'
  6. Labradors shed 25 hours a day, from my experience - so guess your dog is following true to this trait Dandruff? Diet changes will help ...feeding some oily fish, perhaps ? How often is he bathed, and what do you use normally? What else does he get apart from the Hills? Bones? treats?
  7. What??????? You can't do that- just solve your own problem and leave us wondering!!
  8. I would also suggest getting a qualified ,recommended trainer to work with your Mother. This way ... SHE gets to acquire the tools needed to walk/train HER dog :D The way someone suggests you train the pup may not be the way which suits your mum...will she be taking the pup to obedience classes/puppy school ? Will she be doing ongoing training with her dog..not formal.. just everyday stuff ?
  9. :D She will be SO unimpressed
  10. Newspaper until she grows up newspaper is warm... and cheap, and nowhere near as satisfying to rip/chew!
  11. Can we see a pic of this beautiful boy?
  12. What a beautiful photo of her .... R I P Phoenix .. may you have snow flurries and warm feet ..
  13. Psyllium husks get my vote..and a bit more bone
  14. If you can't feel ribs- your dog has too much padding Why not alternate his meals? One day.. his chicken frame Next day, his dry/meat/veg? That way he is still getting a variety of taste/texture and nutrients ..just not all at once
  15. When working with kennels full of labs.. all those with KC used be dosed up- and it did help with coughing- it also quietened them down so they rested
  16. Brown lawn is usually because it is dry Putting fertiliser on can actually make things worse, as most fertiliser is made up of mineral salts .AFAIK.
  17. You're frustrated? So is SHE! She wants to get out and run and sniff and play.... so she digs under the fence ! if she is getting a couple of good long walks, plus training each day ... then you need to perhaps build her a secure run , where she can be safe when not supervised . if she is not getting enough mental stimulation ( a backyard is interesting for about 2 hours ...then a dog knows exactly what is in it ) then try to involve her in lots more stuff. netting as someone said can help , also an electric 'piing string' or similar is a good plan You may also consider putting down tin/colourbond ..like an extension of the fence.. straight down for about 50 cm. Can you leave her inside when you are away? That way she is being kept safe . I bet she can move the dirt away quickly, too! ;)
  18. *nods* not meaning to sound flippant :p Our workers often end up with bloody tongues from being thumped by sheep etc ..none have ever caused more than a very temporary bit of pain .
  19. Nice frozen bone or chunk of frozen meat/mince?
  20. I would also advise getting Xrays done.. by someone experienced in specifics like HD . That way , anything obvious can be addressed before any more damage is done ..and you will have more information on which to base decisions. best of luck with it ...
  21. get him to lick/eat ice cubes- this will slow down bleeding :p
