  1. oh It was interesting, I thought.........
  2. Hi... does she really stare at you ? She may be ,in her way, 'herding' you ..and trying to control you with her eyes . She may be moving, ever so slightly as you move... her instincts at work. This is not really a good plan- she may get fixated... Perhaps have a bed in the main rooms.. and have her lie there and stay? Or crate train her? Quite possibly I am way off track.... But it is the first thing which came into my head.
  3. Rather than put stuff on, and so draw attention to the area- have you tried spraying with one of teh aversive bitter sprays? Or a nice comfy basket muzzle?
  4. earplugs aren't very practical... and they don't stop the vibration, or the change in atmospheric pressure If the dogs are young/playful... get them involved in a game outside ..or inside. I always try & take pups out for a good run/play when it's stormy - so when they grow up they associate it with good times... not fussing and hiding Just keep to the normal routine... use some rescue remedy/burn some lavender oil- give them a bone ... that said- Hamlet has just come in & put himself to bed - he's not keen on storms either. No noise or anything..he just goes to bed & waits it out- we ignore him.
  5. Casster- Glad your girl seems happier I presume ,tho you wrote just the normal name of that royal canin ...,you are buying the low fat one ... as the normal one is NOT suitable for dogs with pancreatitis ... I am also of the opinion that maybe a second opinion should be sought.... just to make sure ..and get the blood tests etc done again.. oh- and with teh inner health capsules.. someone earlier suggested PROTEXIN .. which is specially formulated for animal use
  6. ermm... the agreement/lease????
  7. Renting does have drawbacks I remember renting with adult dogs... luckily they had their own references!! ;) We did have a place where no dogs were indoors...BUT we talked the landlord into ..beds in the laundry ..and dogs allowed into the small sunroom area off the kitchen - so we could sit there and let them feel part of the household still remembering that this will probably be a puppy ... being outside all the time will ideally mean your friend spending several hours outside with the puppy each day- just to get the puppy's training/socialising started . have they had a dog /puppy before?
  8. yeah, but they see all of life differently
  9. perhaps the OP doesn't have a yard?
  10. My worst bite was a kelpie who 'heeled' me :D ran in, grabbed a mouthful of calf muscle, and ran away as I hit the deck screaming That was very painful, and swollen and horrible. The most embarrassing? Working as a newbie at the vets , trying to hold a chi... when it latched onto my nose!! blood pouring everywhere, and the vet standing there laughing ! :p Took ages to stop the holes bleeding , too!
  11. .... Ouch.Hope they aren't too deep I've had concussion, sore back, finger joint injury, bites, knee injury...and more bruises than I've had hot dinners :D ..as well as scratches..but they are an everyday thing :p
  12. I have also used aspirin sparingly, WITH VET ADVICE.
  13. Oh predators and prey - it's always a balancing act , and always hard when the balance swings. Kirty ..they were gorgeous boys ....
  14. LAST TRY http://www.flickr.com/groups/id_please/ sowwy Not my day ..started by tipping rice bubbles into a pot of water instead of porridge oats :p I need coffee.
  15. Excellent captures !! Interesting fly ... If you are on Flickr .. post it HERE!! and let me know- I will direct knowledgable folks there. edit to fix link
  16. I am in favour of some pain ..it keeps them quiet and still What I tend to use is a heated wheat bag on the sore area .. some rescue remedy ,and a spot of lavender oil on the wheatbag or dog bed to help in relaxation
  17. siks3- good post. ...Although it will be tricky managing the dogs back home, I am pleased the little foxy will be spending his time back with you .... and perhaps getting a companion .
  18. Lumps can be something quite common and benign..like fatty lumps(lipomas) which a lot of old dogs get...( my last old dog had heaps all over him ...... or they can be swollen lymph nodes... or result of injury... Hoping you get good news next week
  19. Talk to your doctor... it may be a bug going round .... If not..then try an antihistamine and see if there is an improvement. remember too- it may not be the dog.. it may be flea products/shampoo......
