I often leave food in easy reach... so they can eat when they feel like it, without anxiety for their pups

Vet check would be my only suggestion.... in case of infection or other problem.Was her post whelp check all ok?

training WILL WORK. No question. Trouble is ,it is YOU who need the training- so then you can teach your dog ;) YOU need to be reading/talking, as you are here, about dog behaviour ...WHAT is the dog doing? WHY is he doing it?HOW do I know what he's thinking? WHEN is the right time to praise/correct.... training is mostly about rewards. dogs are pretty simple- like humans. if we get a reward- if it feels good, or we get food ..we will do it again. and again.... SO your dog needs to get REWARDS for good and calm behaviour .... YOU need to learn how this works - obedience lessons will be useful- but by February ...things may have worsened . NOW, at home ,is when he can learn some better habits , with your help.

Druce- you do not need a chain. A time out area is a pen/room where the dog is away from his pack. this pup does not need further confinemnet via a chain.. he needs education/learning/exercise .. he is just discovering life ...he needs to explore and be taught by YOU how to interact with the world ... A walk every second day is NOT enough.... he needs one or two walks every single day ...short walks- not miles... he is still growing and developing. Yes, I recommend desexing .. but it will not 'cure' lack of training . It will help with him not seeking bitches in season..and being so keen to fight other males.

IMO, neither of these things will be of immediate assistance to a very inexperienced owner of a boisterous stafford puppy! It needs rules, and routine,and rewards Smacking will only make things worse- as you have found . A water spray may work- but get your timing absolutely right! Thank Souff....for saying what I wanted to say. I have heard, that in her younger years, she was a superb trainer and handler of Labradors and could work them better than many professional trainers. She is also well aware of how important pedigrees are..in both dogs and horses. I would suspect she just kept up the X breeds because they come from dogs she has loved. It's not as if she has a sign on the fence of Buckingham Palace saying...'Designer puppies for sale!' ;) By the way...I'm not sure which palace grounds it is in, but the Royals have a special pet cemetary, where each and every much loved dog is buried, with a headstone. She is also Patron of Dogs Trust....a dog welfare/rehoming organisation and the largest dog welfare charity in the UK. From the Royal's website...... "The Queen is Patron of over 30 animal charities from the RSPCA to The Red Poll Cattle Society and the Labrador Retriever Club. There may well be no blood - when pup nibbles/licks.. it will be more like an excema thing maybe? Don't panic!! Just check with the vet before you clip him. Infection may be introduced/spread with clipping

Unless they have bad teeth or something- give them their meat on the bone ... if they have to take time to chew up a whole chicken wing ..or some lamb flab or roo tail ..there is less likelihood of gulp/regurgitate syndrome. It does sound as if they have a bug though....
