  1. Unless they have bad teeth or something- give them their meat on the bone ... if they have to take time to chew up a whole chicken wing ..or some lamb flab or roo tail ..there is less likelihood of gulp/regurgitate syndrome. It does sound as if they have a bug though....
  2. it was certainly not hot or anything last night in that part of the world ... gosh I hope they show the same diligence when someone leaves a dog locked in a HOT car
  3. Too late by then- the bugs are in his bloodstream..and making a beeline for any wounds which may be still healing!! BL**dy men!
  4. I had a look as well.. and could not find any laws as such. My guess is that it's a cruelty thing ..not a breaking law thing?
  5. ah _ I didn't realise she was sick- or that age , sorry perhaps just change management - a behaviourist may not be able to help
  6. oh Dear Please get your dad to see a doctor - he needs antibiotics. After a hip replacement, he does NOT need an infection in his leg ..... May I suggest you contact a behaviourist as well , so Abbi's behaviour can be assessed, and hopefully some new training/management plan can be done.
  7. ..back over 20 years ago when my dog was done ... there were no real pain relief things routinely offered .. certainly no physio or aftercare ..dog owners now are so lucky to have all this routinely available to help recovery The op was a resounding success ..and he had another 10 or so years of uneventful very active life , for which I was grateful .
  8. Ours graze when the grass grows rapidly and is nice & fresh/soft I wouldn't worry :D
  9. I am sorry you felt afraid ..been there done that.. a few times. It shakes you up. however, why think of calling the police? The man was not, by your post, attempting to attack you ... he was directing his outburst at your very large off lead dog...he reacted strongly, and tried to protect his little girl. The man was probably scared witless ,and tried to fix things in the only way he knew how.... Yes, it sounded awful, and was loud, and intimidating...but hardly worth getting police involved, IMO.
  10. Dogs vocalise a lot ! It's very normal for your dog to make noises when playing
  11. So sorry, peiLuvr... hope you & sarge can enjoy your walks and time together while you get used to new hole in your heart...
  12. So does this go with folks purchasing from breeders as well? Like a baby newf or GSD is to be desexed at 8 weeks???
  13. Oh - they kept her for 11 years??? Is that unusual?
  14. Scary may I suggest you purchase and use one of those fantastic 'hands free' leashes ..that go 'round your waist - I love them, as it leaves you free to carry things and not worry as much.Your boy sounds great to handle Whilst it is nice to have a 'protector' .. it is also nice to be able to switch it on & off . perhaps get some advice ..as it would be just awful if you were in a confined space, and he did bite
  15. apologies- that doesn't look right To me it is just normal life that stuff like that happens .... we humans are capable of all sorts of behaviour which upsets others .We can do our bit to try & correct /avoid at the time , but then the moment passes ... so what? There will be more sh*it tomorrow again... yes, people 'should' be responsible ... but it's not unusual to be in close contact with those who aren't.
  16. ..which is why I am not in favour of 'good' pain relief . If it hurts- the dog will rest. From memory my dog was not allowed to walk at all for weeks ... mind you he was so bandaged he couldn't move his leg anyway ..it was like a splint! We carried him in & out ...and he weighed around 2o kg ! Hope your girl slowly and surely improves now ...it is a worry.
  17. It is good meat ..but ,as you have already noticed, addictive!! get kangaroo tails if you can ,,that way your animals have bones to chew on as well Your pet supplies store owner is a good businessman!! he knows how to get you hooked
