Grass seeds ( awns from barley grass) will enter the skin.. and move .. causing a small'tunnel' which then becomes infected. The infection may abscess inside.. or pus may leak out of the entry hole. These particular seeds can, if not found, migrate up a leg!!

I was trained in 'old school 'training ... and none of it involved hitting/kicking/excessive force.There were some decent corrections using chain collars .. but there was also plenty of praise/reward for a job well learnt/done . A lot of what is described here..including the first description is just bullying/cruelty.

Yes, consult a Vet behaviourist . poor dog..and poor you!

I would think smooth saluki a bit unlikely ... as dogs bred for hunting are usually from fairly easily available breeds ,like bull breeds/greyhounds/deerhounds. I had a 'pig dog' I rescued.. near as we could tell he was deerhound X dane. I think your girl will be VERY pretty when she matures and grows into those legs

Pretty cute !! Thanks He certainly is beautiful and looks happy Yes, dogs can happily live outside..and many do. BUT a lot of those that do , behave 'naturally' in the yard , which equates to digging/chewing/barking/howling. ;) All perfectly acceptable doggy behaviours....except in suburbia !! Terriers are clever and active, and like company. A young dog left outdoors will probably make his own entertainment usually not what an owner appreciates . looking forward to more photos as he grows ;)

;) kitkatswing ... may I ask why you are planning on having him sleep outside?You are obviously caring, and putting the work in to his training! A dog as smart as your little guy would easily take to crate training (no, not a 'prison'..rather a safe 'den' which most dogs love) and therefore would not be outside barking all night at possums/rats/cats/pedestrians/next door noises. Have you been to a dermatologist ? That way you get your dog seen by a specialist in skin and its problems ..and may be able to properly address/manage it. No fun ...hopefully some help can be found.

Oh I just do not see the world as a dog toilet . Our walks were walks..not sniff/pee fests He went to parks every couple of days .. so he had his sniff time ..he also came to work with me

She will not fully shake off the anaesthesia til the morning ...make sure she's warm tonight ..if she doesn't want to eat, don't force her It's a full anaesthetic..and a surgery of some invasion ..so yes, she will be sore and weary . important- please do NOT let her JUMP in & out the ute..or up onto things! That sort of movement really stretches the surgery site She needs to not run/jump preferably until stitches are removed in about 10 days.Don't be tempted to let her gallop around before then ...especially as you have a long drive, should stitches tear

In a dog park or similar area? I lived in the city- used to walk my dog twice a day .. and during leash walking, he was not allowed to pee. He had a toilet opportunity before we left ... When we free ran in large parks ..then he could pee on trees, but not all around suburbia.

It doesn't sound as if this trip is an ideal first one for your pup. .... things will be hectic , and as PF says, if he is not crate trained (and yes, it is something which requires training) ..and if he is vocal/excitable you could have problems
