  1. I would suggest his lips are bare from nibbling at his feet .. compounded by a bacterial infection . Fix the foot problem.. the toes look bent at odd angles..because of way too long nails and the joints are probably painful? (and after some initial AB's ..his lips should heal Perhaps put a bucket or muzzle on to assist in the healing?
  2. ..oh, and don't worry too much about the slugs getting frozen. they are built for survival..if they feel cold ,they will gravitate towards their mother..which is what you want
  3. Vote for wrapped icebricks/cordial bottles here!! You only need to show them once !
  4. Are you going to any obedience classes? You may find it really useful to see/talk with others learning the same things With a check collar- did someone show you how to use it properly? if NOT.. then incorrect use will not be helpful to you or your pup. If you have not been taught how to walk properly, then you cannot teach your pup
  5. Plain collars here as well. I believe people are using halters/harnesses in lieu of that bit extra training ...and belief that collars are 'cruel'
  6. The idea of the water is that they do get a decent squirt ..not a mist
  7. Poor nelson... Does he have an actual bucket, or an elizabethan collar? It is your job now to find bowls etc OVER which the 'bucket' will fit ..and tall enough so he can reach the water . You may also want to have a look HERE Any way you can stop his access to stairs when you're not around?Just in case
  8. No. Make sure though, that things are as comfortable as possible ... a non wobbly bath. Very shallow water . a towel/mat in the bottom so there is no slipping water poured/sprayed gently..and always start at the feet .... until your pup learns you mean no harm. Have pup on lead, too.
  9. Those names, are they kennel prefixes, or just dogs' names ?
  10. do it really fine ... when our dogs steal guineafowl eggs..they suck out the contents very neatly
  11. I would think so... he is still feeling everything new ...
  12. Your puppy is a baby ... and if you have spent a lot of time with it when it first came home... of course it will now cry What else does it have to eat/play with when you leave?
  13. Kashing- what do you mean by 'obedience training' ? Do you mean going to classes , or do you mean getting the puppy listening/obeying at home ...learning house rules and manners ? You might get some information on training your puppy at home if you CLICK HERE
  14. While 'trade' is a very useful behaviour .....and can be life saving! it can also encourage a smart dog to find stuff to trade (looks down at Hamlet) .....
  15. No expert ,but if it is testosterone fuelled... it may help..but will take a month or two to have any effect.,I think. I am hoping someone has the name of a reputable professional you can ask..Kathy couldn't give you teh name of someone else?
  16. Hi- don't get side tracked by the 'in house' comments in your thread..... but please do contact a professional. The lady mentioned is in perth ..and will most likely be able to assist you. Your old dog does not deserve this ..and she and your young dog need to be made feel secure and settled. Best of luck with it all...
  17. Bonnie- is your dog healthy? is she old? Could she have problems with teeth/pain?
  18. Glad you got it sorted:) Eyes do not usually change without a very good/bad reason
