Shilo Is Seriously Sick. Last Update.
persephone replied to Rascalmyshadow's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
there is a steroid-responsive meningitis ..... Thinking of Shiloh and you. ;hug: -
Not sure if it is allergy related- but it sounds like she has a lot of nausea for some reason.... and a thorough vet check (bloodwork included) may help.

Dunno - Perhaps they were a draught horse driver in a previous life? but I bet the dog was gleaming and shiny, too! Would have looked lovely , I think!

I am not one for dressing dogs .... BUT I love Hamlet's Woofstock Collar When I had Kieran .. a very large brindle 'roo dog' type beast.. I took him to town a lot ,and in shops etc. To help ..I bought him a bright red collar, and painted bones etc on it in bright colours. I hung a large stainless steel teddybear on the collar, too ...The opposite of the black leather/studded collar ;) It worked a treat! Folks looked at the happy bright collar ... and saw the large brindle dog in a different light Collars can say a lot !! Collars on dogs can give an impression of owners - is the collar a flimsy thing- just for show? is it a sturdy serviceable oiled leather? Is it one which suits the breed? Is the collar and leash a set..or just something grabbed in a hurry ? Is the collar tattered and well worn? Is the collar a length of chain, maybe, or an old belt, refurbished? They all have a message ;)

Vitamin K Treatment For Rat Bait Poisoning
persephone replied to mirawee's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
When the vet induced vomiting, you should have seen who had remnants of poison in their vomit .... How worrying for you With rat poison, AFAIK it can take some days for any symptoms to become apparent ....and the blood test in 2 weeks will test the clotting ability of their blood . Thinking of you ...... -
LUPINE have a nice darker solid purple Also HERE Hamlet has a Lupine collar ..'woofstock' pattern

Glad it was nothing sinister...

Don't Know How Vets And Vet Nurses Do It
persephone replied to jr_inoz's topic in General Dog Discussion
My vet did up a consent form.If a dog was to be PTS the owner/ownerS had to sign the form. This was done after a nasty relationship break up ..and one party had the other's dog PTS for non existent reasons We did on more than one occasion talk folks out of PTS an unwanted pet ... and rehomed them -
A dark green? oohh..this has purple! Sexy collar! LINK leather & tattoo!! :D

Don't Know How Vets And Vet Nurses Do It
persephone replied to jr_inoz's topic in General Dog Discussion
oh :D That's a sad tale. Good on the doctor Oursurgery was TINY ... and often I would have a distraught client on my 'office' chair sipping water (with rescue remedy added) until I thought it safe to let them into their car . I would not let people drive in that state ! -
Probably not perhaps introduce him gradually to a nice soft muzzle ..so that when you are doing stuff with him you won't be sending subconscious anxiety messages ,fearing a bite? His muzzle could be the 'key' to a special walk/car ride/small treat /cuddle ... Hard for you- I'm sorry. :D

Picasa straightening does work.. but leaves my pics fuzzy. It is the only bit about PICASA in which I am very disapppointed. yep picasa pics are copies... if you want to use the edited photos- you need to EXPORT them to somewhere... like the original folder..or a folder marked 'edited' or somewhere easy to find. Export them as ORIGINAL size and MAXIMUM resolution.

My first thought was MENINGITIS. Can't remember who, but someone on here posted about their dog with it a while ago.... perhaps suggest it to the vet? I did some looking, and found : LINK I hope they discover a cause , and can get her on the road to recovery soon. -
Good luck at the vet this morning!

Don't Know How Vets And Vet Nurses Do It
persephone replied to jr_inoz's topic in General Dog Discussion
It can be sad... but there are lots of good ones too I think one of the saddest I can remember was when an old man tottered in, with a little birdcage ..his 'mate' - all he had in his flat ..his long time companion . A dear old canary , who unfortunately had had a stroke or something ..and actually died in the vet's hand as he was examining it It was just awful... we were all in tears, and seeing that old man wander out again with the empty bird cage swinging in his hand ... I will never forget it. Sometimes, with the sad, there is some comfort, too - one person brought in a litter of baby puppies, just a few days old .Unwanted ..could we 'sort it out'. (this was 20 something years ago.....) They were fat, shiny little things ....we did actually quickly check for a foster mum ..but no luck. I put them in a warm bed.. we injected them in the abdominal cavity ..and they snuggled up to each other and just went gently to sleep.... I like to think they went as peacefully and kindly as we could send them.... I'm glad you visit was short & easy -
..Just keep him quiet, and relaxed..is he still eating etc? There are lots of reasons! Knee problems, hip problems, foot problems, muscle problems....Definitely vet in the morning , poor old fella.
-
It will heal... just don't fuss over him too much - keep the ice on for however long was advised...and give him lots of bones etc to occupy him

A flat collar/martingale/harness - whatever you buy , YOU need to learn WHY it works , and HOW and WHEN to use it correctly . That is really important ... To address a problem of pulling, a puppy owner needs to understand why puppy is pulling ... what needs to be done to correct it,and how to carry out the actions involved. For example - a puppy who wants to play needs to be handled differently to a puppy who is being a bit pushy/wants to bully another ...and differently again to a puppy whose excitement/ pulling is because they want to submit /appease.....

Kirislin.. I have mostly soft pics... point/shoot cameras ,plus slack post processing (often none). I do love LIGHTROOM though.. for correcting/finding what my simple cameras miss Sharpening is something I rarely do ..but very occasionally I will do a light sharpen of a landscape in PICASA
