Not sure if I agree with this just because someone has a pedigreed entire dog does not entitle them to start breeding....

Storm Phobias- At What Point Do You Consider It A Problem?
persephone replied to Cosmolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have a couple here who pant and shake ...I just put them to bed & leave 'em to it. No special treatment .One little bitch who used to sleep next to mum's room got frightened by a LOUD Clap of thunder one night.. and jumped thru the flyscreen into Mum's room. She sleeps in Mum's room now. Hamlet has only just started- at age 7. All our pups are encouraged to run/play when it's stormy .. most of them grow up not worrying , but some do, unfortunately. -
..using lots of bird shapes, real feathers, bird noise making things may indeed set her up to be way too focussed on live birds ..and eager to feel those feathers in her mouth
-
agreed.

Using treats on a groggy, wobbly dog may not have worked well... but if your dog's very food oriented, then it's a good plan
-
he may have been 'rougher' than necessary .. or perhaps he and the dog were both a bit out of synch because of the post anaesthesia lack of co ordination etc of your dog...and things didn't work as planned . As said- if you are so unhappy - contact the clinic.
-
If she intends to do it , with registered and approved bitches, and so enable resulting pups able to be properly registered - wouldn't there be quite a bit of official paperwork and health certification etc ,involved?

picasa doesn't touch your originals, if you have the settings correct,AFAIK. Picasa uses copies. if you look in "my pictures' or wherever you store your pics- they should all be as they came out the camera. I have used picasa for years ..and have never had it do edits I didn't ask for. I love it CLICK HERE to see what G**gle found re: photoscape and watermarking Good luck with it .

There are some lovely cafes down near the beach, too - where dogs have their own water bowl and are welcome in the outdoor areas :D
-
Ouch ! been there, done that . Hope there's nothing broken!
-
No - way beyond me But I love THIS GUY'S work!

If it were me , I would want a vet check before going away.... just so you don't get any nasty surprises during your time away ... Hope she's ok

Allergic Reaction? Or Something Else?
persephone replied to ravenau1's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Looks like hives - which are part of an allergic reaction.Hope the vet can be of help  -
I have never heard of such a 'training' method. No, definitely not ...but a dog who may be excited/anxious , and who can not open wide to pant properly may over heat.
-
And every time I see benadryl cough mixture I remember when KC used to go thru the kennels- and days would be full of coughing labradors spitting and dribbling benadryl spit everywhere!
-
...and what you might have to ask your vet about is the CARRIER for the active ingredients!! Some are human specific , some animal specific.Whilst the active ingredient may be fine... the carrier may not.

kennel cough is a virus. AB's are only used if there is a secondary infection, AFAIK . Dogs with kennel cough can cough lots, or only when excited/being walked ...it depends on teh dog, and the severity of the bug.It also depends on what sort of collar they wear, and if they are walked, pulling on collar, because the collar will aggravate the inflammation exactly in the right/wrong spot..and cause coughing...so will sudden cold air..barking and excitement :D I don't know about the diarrhoea- haven't noticed it in KC cases I remember ,sorry. I was taught that KC lasts about 3 weeks without treatment, and 21 days with treatment :D That was a while ago ... I think now, with more options, there may be a shorter duration.... I have seen on here folks advising teh use of MANUKA honey to help soothe the throat, and help heal.

Ongoing Skin Problems/itchiness
persephone replied to aussielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
A lot of folks 'could' do it , but they should not have to ..and if the dog is a working dog,and on various drugs then safety could be compromised -
Ongoing Skin Problems/itchiness
persephone replied to aussielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
IMO, no way should she be a part of the GD training program Ongoing health issues, special diets, costs of vet/medications ..and a dog who has physical symptoms are not what a visually impaired person signs up for ;) -
especially, as D is now 'in solitary' ,effectively ...
-
Sorry about Drakey- but killing/eating a duck/chook/guinea, is something a lot of our dogs would do/have done, given the opportunity - however they do not have the behaviours shown by D, which , to me, are more worrying. ;) Thinking of you...
-
A muzzle in which a dog cannot bark, is also one in which a dog cannot pant to cool itself, or drink ;) ;) I don't think muzzling a pup will teach it not to bark It may though just give it something else to be concerned about. I would not recommend such a course of action .

Ongoing Skin Problems/itchiness

I've not heard of a dog 'growing out' of a skin condition... have GD's spoken of a dermatologist appointment ?
