Have you thought of ,or tried him with a nice comfy LARGE crate? maybe with door open and beds etc inside ? It would take time, but may help him realise that those wire bars can also mean comfort/food ..and being 'with' family , tho not being touched by them ....

Poor Mica. She perhaps should have seen a vet today... it could be constipation/a blockage/an infection/an injury, or something else.. .even if it is 'just constipation, the longer you leave it the more uncomfortable it will be , as matter dries out in the intestine and becomes difficult and painful to pass. Please don't give her anything to try & 'help' like oil or anything, in case it is not simple constipation. No food either.. but plenty of water/broth/lactose free milk if she likes it ...and keep her resting. Good luck at the vet tomorrow if needed

a bit OT , but I believe dogs (and owners) should be able to happily spend time apart if needed

The trouble is tho.... all the publicity, and that other legless dog "faith" may now encourage folks to keep pups like this, and with other deformities , for the cuteness and the 'wow' factor Not necessary when there are millions of 4 legged ones around.

I was once knocked completely off my feet by two exuberant labs I was free running in a park It hurt. A lot.

I have always boarded them if needed, or left them at home or with friends when I went away , without a problem having an ill animal stay in hospital is always a worry - but only because of the illness .

Make sure mum gets some good red meat into her and some calcium - she has done a BIG thing. I don't enjoy watching littlies literally fighting just to start living Unless I can get them somewhere where they can get properly checked/sub cutaneous fluid, etc .. I hate seeing them suffering ,and give them their wings . Best of luck with your little one - hopefully the glucose will give him a burst. A drop of Rescue remedy on the tongue helps too (brandy)

Keeping A Dog With High Prey But Low Food Drive Entertained
persephone replied to Mav_1's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lots of short training bursts whenever you are home! 5-10 minutes of training several times a day will occupy her brain .. long 'on leash walks' .. There are probably toys out there which roll/bounce and will catch her attention ... here is one you can use when home LINK -
No, it was a comment from the OP , originally ... from GABBA

Pulling When He Sees Other Dogs
persephone replied to TYLER23's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yep get a good trainer to show you in person . Working with a trainer one-on-one will help you and your dog understand more of how the other operates, and will give you strategies tailored to your dog and the situation . -
That link doesn't work for me ...

Do You Refer To Yourself As You Dogs "mum Or Dad"?
persephone replied to shells's topic in General Dog Discussion
No..no mummy dogs are not my 'babies', or 'furkids' either. just dogs & owners ... we do use our names .. as in "Go find XXXXX" names of humans, other dogs or the cats -
Potential To Compete/train
persephone replied to Mason_Gibbs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Take a new tug .. or a folded up small towel ... and engage the pup in play ...without mason around! I'd do this before the dogs meet - just you & the pup first. Do the greetings/getting to smell you stuff .. then take him a for a short leash walk.. and produce your tug toy .. make it exciting, have pup on long lead, and toss it around, seeing what he does -
That should be in all teh greyhound adoption promotional material Absolutely wonderful !

GABBA- I suggested you contact your dog's BREEDER .they are the ones who know him,and his bloodline. They know what age maturity kicks in , when is an age to start breeding, and can also suggest the health checks necessary to find out IF your dog's genes are suitable to be spread around . I just can not understand why all this has not been discussed with teh breeder by now Once again, perhaps the breeder will explain it to you? I wouldn't have a problem as such, but would wonder how much research you did NOT do on your chosen breed

Leg Protectors - Where To Buy?
persephone replied to stacyk's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh..D'oh . sorry . Nowhere else you can walk the dogs? I'd be more concerned with grass seeds in bodily orifices than wet legs
