  1. Poor little things should never have seen the light of day
  2. I'm glad for you that he's looking much stronger
  3. I guess it was no surprise for you - and now you can carry out tests etc how YOU want them done Hopefully that mating won't be repeated ....
  4. I presume this one is teh correct date ?^^^
  5. gapvic- set the little boy free .... poor little angel.
  6. Make sure mum gets some good red meat into her and some calcium - she has done a BIG thing. I don't enjoy watching littlies literally fighting just to start living Unless I can get them somewhere where they can get properly checked/sub cutaneous fluid, etc .. I hate seeing them suffering ,and give them their wings . Best of luck with your little one - hopefully the glucose will give him a burst. A drop of Rescue remedy on the tongue helps too (brandy)
  7. Lots of short training bursts whenever you are home! 5-10 minutes of training several times a day will occupy her brain .. long 'on leash walks' .. There are probably toys out there which roll/bounce and will catch her attention ... here is one you can use when home LINK
  8. No, it was a comment from the OP , originally ... from GABBA
  9. Yep get a good trainer to show you in person . Working with a trainer one-on-one will help you and your dog understand more of how the other operates, and will give you strategies tailored to your dog and the situation .
  10. That link doesn't work for me ...
  11. No..no mummy dogs are not my 'babies', or 'furkids' either. just dogs & owners ... we do use our names .. as in "Go find XXXXX" names of humans, other dogs or the cats
  12. Take a new tug .. or a folded up small towel ... and engage the pup in play ...without mason around! I'd do this before the dogs meet - just you & the pup first. Do the greetings/getting to smell you stuff .. then take him a for a short leash walk.. and produce your tug toy .. make it exciting, have pup on long lead, and toss it around, seeing what he does
  13. A DOL'er recently lost her JRT from apparently hunting/eating poisoned rats
  14. That should be in all teh greyhound adoption promotional material Absolutely wonderful !
  15. GABBA- I suggested you contact your dog's BREEDER .they are the ones who know him,and his bloodline. They know what age maturity kicks in , when is an age to start breeding, and can also suggest the health checks necessary to find out IF your dog's genes are suitable to be spread around . I just can not understand why all this has not been discussed with teh breeder by now Once again, perhaps the breeder will explain it to you? I wouldn't have a problem as such, but would wonder how much research you did NOT do on your chosen breed
  16. Oh..D'oh . sorry . Nowhere else you can walk the dogs? I'd be more concerned with grass seeds in bodily orifices than wet legs
  17. like chaps? some on ebay... or rainwear on a site like THIS ?
  18. I wouldn't buy a couch, or carpet or anything... the texture is what he wants ..and the fun. flattened cardboard cartons and thick layered newspaper is one of the warmest (no, not snuggly) insulating bedding materials
  19. you don't 'pull him away'..because you shouldn't have stopped in the first place you just keep walking at a constant pace, chattering away brightly ,and if he wants to stop and be caught up and made uncomfortable for a second or three, that's HIS problem.
  20. The fact I find disturbing is that this bird has become so used to feeding on land .. and eating all sorts of rubbish , that it now sees most things as food, instead of feeding mostly in/from the water as it should be. Eating a live pigeon, with flapping wings is not really much different to eating a wildly flopping ,spiky finned fish, after all...
  21. You would have a nervous breakdown here, then every time snake or cat or dog or something grabs a frog there are a few seconds of screaming... The other night I must hve missed a frog in my nightly 'muster' of ones who sneak indoors ..and around 1 am I awoke to the very loud squark of a frog alongside my bed ! Mr. Wilson had one , and was patting it around . I let it go outside ... and told it to stay there! There are hundreds of frogs around here at present... they are in/on everything!
  22. yep- keep walking. behaviours on walks are not dictated by the dog- they are dictated by you. he stops & sniffs /pees when YOU say he can. No argument walk him for 20 mtrs or so ..talking, maybe showing a toy .. and after he has walked nicely without sniffing, then stop and use a word like "free' .or "sniff"... and let him have a minute to sniff etc. then.. "heel"/"walk" ,whatever, and off you go again That way he gets to have a sniff.. but needs to concentrate on walking nicely as well Dogs wandering along lazily sniffing everywhere is one of my 'don't likes' , sorry .
