  1. Asa believer in some non-orthodox medicines *looks around nervously for certain posters* I am glad that you have some information and help. Hoping, that in a couple of weeks you will begin to see an improvement ...
  2. Try pup on some bony lamb flap in a big piece.. so he crunches the bone in those back teeth ... if that doesn't work .. perhaps back to the vet for a yank ;)
  3. I would be at the vets ... and then , if it is an injury from teh groomer - you have a record of it . Hope he feels better soon!
  4. Contact K9pro ( steve) CLICK HERE Hope you can find out why, and get help with managing your two....
  5. Mine all sleep in their own beds ... even Mr.Wilson now, since I fixed him up a cosy enclosed bed :)
  6. Christine x- I know about that sort of mouse problem My sympathies ! We have I set of mouse proof cupboards - and a lot of stuff in those plastic crates on wheels! Duke sounds a very handy guy to have around
  7. I don't believe in leaving food lying around if there are two dogs . Great idea as a boredom buster for a single dog .. but two dogs have each other to annoy yes- YOU are the boss .. and yes, they will/do have their own hierarchy .. and they will be continually sending out tiny messages to each other as they walk/play /groom It is a natural thing . provided you reinforce with both of them that it is YOUR pack ... that's a very good boundary for them You have a male & a female? It would be very odd, IMO, if they ever had a serious fight over the order .. Your female is still young .. so she will still be on her puppy stage anyway ;) Bitches are often the boss... So .. It may be wise to NOT leave bones/treats etc out if you're not home . Don't try to set up their order yourself ... feeding one first, etc. I would suggest you give them their bones/feed them separately- out of sight of each other, and let them eat in peace ..and don't leave bowls down . treat them both the same as much as possible ..and don't worry too much if one tells the other one off for being rough when playing .. they have to do that
  8. I am curious as to how the dog has access to cutlery/crockery? re: stone gathering .... perhaps have heaps of tennis or other balls around that your pup can collect? And some interactive toys .. like the old soft drink/water bottle ...containing a handful of his kibble ............... plus a BIG meaty bone to chew on I might also try spraying the pebbles near stepping stones with a chili solution , or some vinegar (undiluted) ...
  9. in our local shops there is a lady who uses a scooter/gopher ..and her little elderly SWF is always sitting on the scooter . She leaves it tied to the scooter when she does her shopping .. no- one has ever complained ... the little dog hasn't ever put a foot wrong ..it has water when weather is warm.. a coat when weather is cold
  10. and he may not be fully competent in "DOG" . Part of the reason ethical breeders do not rehome puppies until at least 8 weeks is that those latter weeks are spent learning from 'Mum' ..learning just how far to go - learning the language , so to speak..and learning how to play nice. If he is of a more pushy type anyway .. this may not be helping.
  11. I'm surprised they didn't have someone ... it is surely a job where OH&S is important ... so many things can go wrong
  12. ;) one night in a melbourne suburb.... there was a search/chase in our block ... policemen knocked on our door - told us to keep everything locked, and if we saw anyone not in uniform in the yard..to set the dogs on him !!
  13. thanks, stormie - I have seen lots of palpation done ... and done it myself ..but obstruction diagnosis, esp high up , I have only ever seen diagnosed with xray /barium.
  14. Feel an obstruction? .... I have never heard of foreign bodies diagnosed that way ...maybe they are these days ....? I am hopeful that it is only a bug -and that he will be happy soon !
  15. don't know .. hamlet's was years & years ago... I guess it depends what they have to do - how much barium..how many xrays... how long surgery is /how many days in hospital etc. Hope everything goes well It's a worrying time, I know.
  16. Dear old thing - you will miss her a lot , but you did her a service .. being old and uncomfortable would be no fun ...
  17. I'd stop it immediately . Even if it is not the medication causing the diarrhoea ... and your dog has a bug.. the meds will possibly delay healing of the gut ..... If you have some good yoghurt - perhaps some of that will help with his tummy? Poor boy.
  18. ;) An easy way to avoid this ..is to play 'SWAP' swap her a tasty something.. or favourite toy for what she has in her mouth!! it works well , and , if you stick with a short happy command - carries over to adult hood - and means nasty /dangerous things can mostly be easily retrieved by you
  19. Can't help much with the toilet training, etc.. but would advise you feed puppy what teh breeder has been using . For the first week or so- do this... then GRADUALLY change over to what you want to use , if what the breeder uses isn't doing the job . Changing food abruptly may lead to pup not eating, or may cause tummy upsets
