the knee is not difficult to pick... but the HD and neurolgical problems may need re assessing by a specialist .

My BC X had a bad luxating patella .. he used to suddenly go lame when racing around ... Once I knew what it was- I would "click" it back in again when it happened.. it wasn't painful all the time - just when he twisted, and it popped out of its groove ;) and we did get a specialist to do corrective surgery . He was weeks bandaged and recuperating , but then had another 7 or so years absolutely worry free . make sure. also your boy is nice & lean .. his joints will thank you

yes. please see an orthopaedic vet - a specialist - ... who deals with these things every single day , and who knows how to do the correct xrays, and interpret them , before you rush into anything. is the 'new' vet an orthopaedic one or just another vet? It's a shame your dog has fathered a litter I agree with letting those owners know of your dog's health concerns - and hopefully stopping more problems being passed on down th line.

sounds as if it could have been an injury ?

Our dogs always have a lot of white poo when on raw ..cos they eat all their meat on the bone But they usually get hair/fur /offal as well to help .

perhaps because she is FIT ..and does exercise which uses those muscles?

She can still have the chicken necks- but perhaps reduce by 1/3 or 1/2 ?

It is so sad Years ago- I held a friend's guide dog as he went over the bridge . I had seen this dog born, seen him trained, and working - I knew him well - and he was a sweet and gentle boy - Unfortunately, some years down the track,he bit a few times- absolutely out of the blue. and yes, he had a brain tumour ... he was PTS.

Best of luck Hope it all works out for you (and your dog) -
That's good - dehydration /electrolyte imbalance is not a good thing . Hopefully he will start to improve now-

Any reason the vet didn't keep him in ,on a drip/obs? It's hard for you to juggle things ... Poor Gus. Fingers crossed.

vet is the best spot.... I hope he is Ok and that you all travelled safely.

Not really All I will suggest is that you spend some time re training her - like housetraining a puppy . reward her madly for toileting outside .. and use a word when she is going to/does ... so , in a while, she will associate that word with toileting ..and you can take her out last thing at night, and have her wee . This is no quick fix, though. May I suggest one of THESE or a canine equivalent? I used one of these recently for our incontinent poor old girl ... it worked very well . I am sure there will be other helpful ideas for you Also ,when it's cold/wet.. go outside..take your dog for a walk/play in the wet!! let her see that a bit of wet is no reason to stay indoors ;)

Oh Just make sure a crate is wide enough for her to lie, on her side, with legs stretched out straight ..and to turn around in comfortably, with little knee twisting /pivoting .

Help! My Dog Has Peed On People....
persephone replied to monique.c's topic in General Dog Discussion
guess it was all my years of guide dog training... dogs were trained from pups to toilet on command .. were emptied out before walks/training .. and not allowed to sniff/toilet on walks (0pbviously if they HAD to go from illness they just did ;) ) Dogs were trained toileting ON lead , given the command word .. so if needed, they could be allowed to empty out in a suitable spot . Toilet on command is such a useful thing to keep your dog comfortable, whilst not having it toilet in inappropriate places It means toileting only takes a minute or two .. and is an absolute godsend when travelling/visiting I always expected the same from my pet dogs - walks on lead are usually 'work' ... runs off lead in parks/paddocks are 'freetime' .. as are runs on longlines in parks - peeing on grass/trees etc is allowed . -

I couldn't do that to a dog ... forbid peeing off leash at a dog park and correcting/disciplining all the time NO peeing on leash unless given permission , and no peeing indoors etc . is a sensible rule ... .. when free running and in the presence of other dog scents /other dogs, though, It's a doggy thing to do ,IMO -
