  1. Glad you came seeking help .......... Ok. I will suggest you get a well recommended professional to assess Missy. Do not even THINK about rehoming a dog with the behaviours she has shown with you .... that is not the responsible thing to do , before you get her properly assessed. It is NOT the caring/responsible thing to rehome a dog showing aggression . There two D O L members who I would suggest you speak with urgently ... there are other trainers as well, but I can't remember their names please contact COSMOLO NEKHBET I would also suggest keeping teh dogs separate for now ... ONE day, Astro may feel threatened enough to fight back... and that would be disastrous
  2. Indeed- although normally that irritation is present the next day .. and dogs are usually not lethargic..and off food. Please contact the vet .. I'm sure she will drink ... offer her some (no salt) chicken broth if you're worried ..and feed her wet food
  3. If the owner is in a city .. then I suggest they get a consult with a specialist and get a decisive answer ... instead of the see saw of dietary changes etc ... get a proper diagnosis from someone who knows their stuff - and then attack the problem
  4. Love it! better than MudBloods anyday ;)
  5. a bit too much excitement- and as he's still a baby- he's forgotten stuff, that's all ;)
  6. So - what is different over the past few days ? Weather people home or away -different to previously any dog visitors have you been anywhere different with him Do you train with food? has he had any different food/treats? How is he out on a walk?
  7. Oh My !!! What a face for photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh - cute dog :p He is lovely ...and looks very much 'at home' already . Name ? Campbell just came to mind when I saw him
  8. I think Nature's Gift has more FOOD in it than the other ..and is cheaper ;) heart murmurs? Why not start a thread and ask? I know there have been several queries on here recently.....
  9. .. she's certainly not 'old' ...a good 'pet mince has some offal/muscle meat/minced bone in it..and should NOT be cooked ( it is human grade meat ,and perfectly fine...plus if you cook bone it can clog up or injure your dog) I don't use canned food .. BUT there is one available which has more good stuff than bad , I think.. Nature's Gift.. in the supermarket perhaps she can eat that instead of the chicken/rice?..all you need to is open the can! No adding liquid or anything Whatever you try .. introduce it gradually .
  10. I worry when I see a dog with three legs, or one who is blind... or one that is too fat , but I would not dream of saying anything, uninvited, to the owner ..it is just not my business.
  11. try your little dog on some (shhh, don' tell your Mum) raw beef mince with the rice ... and if she enjoys the beef.. use a little bit to mix her bikkies in.. coat the bikkies well . Mind you , if she has sore gums.. eating bikkies will hurt you could soak the bikkies ..SLIGHTLY .. not into soup ;) just so they start to swell/are a bit soft .. and se if she will eat them then? How old is this dog?
  12. Interesting , to be a bit naughty .....and to take this quote, and also apply it to stuff like ear cropping, or keeping a dog on a chain ..or feeding a vegan diet.... ;) Owners do indeed have the final say- but a well informed decision ,made with the dog's welfare in mind, is the best one, I believe
  13. Oh... excellent!!! edit: just saw the photo ! *wipes eyes*
  14. aahhh Ok. Makes sense Mums try & do their best. if she is eating 'slop' like soupy rice with some cooked chicken... yes, she may have digestion problems.. plus boiled chicken & rice has not much nutrition Most doggy people use boiled rice/chicken as a soothing meal for temporary use only. Try her on the boiled rice ..NO extra liquid ..and the chicken..with a teaspoonful of mashed cooked pumpkin or sweet potato . If she drinks water.. she does not need extra liquid in her food ... ;) I would also try her on a nice raw chicken wing ..or turkey wing, and see how she goes .....
  15. I don't see why - when the OP appears to be concerned with people buying puppies from an unscrupulous breeder .. They didn't express a desire to make friends with the owner, regardless, So why presume friendship just so you can learn more about where the pup came from ?
  16. How long til you move? if you have some time .. a week or more .. maybe try this? using scented oils ... like diluted lavender/vanilla/peppermint... mark out trails (use a spray bottle ..and just a small puff every metre or so at first ) along routes she normally uses to go outside.. find her toilet spot .. find her bed , etc. . Associate the vanilla one with her food/bed/your couch, maybe .. so in her brain, vanilla = comforting things ;) Then... before she goes to the new place .. have your trails marked out .. try & have furniture in a similar arrangement to home ...and make sure she has no nasty steps/ditches which may jump out at her ! Also dig up a bucketful of soil from where she toilets .. and dump where her new toilet spot is to be ;) This way she will scent the familiar. You may want to invest in a D A P diffuser, too This is a plugin. like an air freshener, which releases a pheremone into the air .This pheremone say "hey.. chill.. it's OK" Ask at the vets...or buy online. I would suggest you avoid any medications...as these may interfere with her limited ability to navigate her new home. I do hope it all goes well
  17. Ooohhhh!! :D :D :D Wonderful.
  18. No. For all we know the puppy may well have a health problem that the owner is well aware of, and that is being treated by a vet. It could have been injured, or have another problem. The owner may be doing everything possible to ensure her pup is happy and enjoying life as best it can. It may just be an awkward shape! I would be mightily annoyed if someone came up to me and spoke to me about this sort of thing - sorry. Not really your problem . By all means, speak up if a dog is obviously being abused , or is in immediate danger ... however - this pup has an owner, is being walked at a park, is on lead, is getting attention ....
  19. Scary ;( I would at least be phoning a vet ,teebs. Fitting can have many causes ... and vet checks/tests are the only way to determine what's going on. So this dog is home alone mostly ,while your folks are away? You are just going around to feed her? Shame you can't have her at your place ... but I agree , from your description it could be disastrous! Bugga.
  20. What parasites do chickens have, do you think? Those chickens are ,I believe extremely well looked after, medicine wise .. and there are no parasites that I know of which live in the bones/meat of human consumption chickens . perhaps try her with lamb ribs , or rabbit pieces , or turkey wing/neck , if you think she is sensitive to chicken ;) Why does she eat rice? What other food does she eat and enjoy? Can she eat minced lamb/beef ? What about cooked/mashed sweet potato/pumpkin? If she is Ok with these things maybe you could use them.. that way she wouldn't need chicken stock, or rice . Note : ANY different foods need to be introduced a little at a time , to avoid upsets . That goes for treats too .... Mind you, packaged chicken stock often has some onion/herbs etc in it .. try making your own, using JUST chicken .. and se if she tolerates that better , perhaps?
