No reason not to walk your other dog - IMO dogs need to learn to be alone at times.... You can still take your kelpie with you in the car

I'm sorry I can't answer any of your questions .. but I hope your boy is able to live many more years with you , in good health , and that the surgery did get rid of the cancer.

Our pups are quickly sorted as to 'paddock dogs' or 'yard dogs' perhaps not by scientific methods .. but it seems to work ;) Not often we get an 'all rounder' ..most times they specialise. our yard dog pups seem very bold and active.. have low body sensitivity, and are noisy.They will happily jump/run onto/over anything, will get rolled/fall over, and just keep going . paddock dog candidates seem to be more settled.. will be calmer , quieter and aren't as forceful.They may use 'eye' rather than speed/pushiness ...and be 'marathon' runners, not 'sprinters' Both obviously have to think and anticipate ... and they enjoy whatever it is they are good at

I would suggest another vet! there are two types of mange mites.. usually a skin scraping is done, and mites can then be viewed by the vet. I would hesitate to recommend anything for you to use until you have a DEFINITE diagnosis .

What sort of mites? What did your vet suggest when the diagnosis was given?

I'm a 'cat personality'really - but having dogs around is essential I very much enjoy being around/watching most animals , large & small . At one time or another I have had pets of most common species ..and a few others. At one stage when (In my little granny flat with a yard) .. I had 1 dog , 2 cats, 1 budgie, 2 mice, 2 bearded dragons, a long-necked tortoise, a tankful of fish,and a duck .(and a horse on agistment in the same suburb). My landlord was very forgiving!

Not 'silly' pup .. a pup behaving as he is programmed to. Pups/dogs bounce and wriggle when they are excited and happy....

Poorlittle thing .. pups cannot 'hold on'. After her first whimper (when she was already bursting) it just had to happen!

At 15 weeks - the scent/tactile feel rewards of digging in the garden will FAR outweigh a human standing there making weird noises at him- sorry. Where else does he have in which to dig? Does he have a sand pit or clam shell? I suggest he has an alternative - in which he can dig/play freely .... something which has some toys/treats buried in - so he can play

for jumping up .... your pup is a small dog breed? You carried/carry it around? have it on your lap? Well all it is doing is trying to get your attention so you will pick it up something you probably did on the first day! Puppy put paws on your leg ..and you scooped it up? Reward pup ONLY when 4 paws are on the ground. ALWAYS. NO talking or looking at if it jumps/bounces. Turn around /away..or walk away . NO SOUND., and EVERY time. Shortly after that - when you see pup with 4 paws grounded- then pat/ scratch/treat . BUT NOT lift pup up ...

She can still go for car rides just build her a ramp, or lift her !

Good decision! yes- a bit like having a new human baby - you just need to understand how your pup ticks- and relax ;)

It would be a good idea to have her properly vet checked before starting on diets/medications at home, altho I guess you had her vet checked before bring her in contact with your own dogs ? Allergies do need to be pinpointed .. it could be a food allergy - or it could be a thyroid problem... or other things. It may just be a weird coat!
