  1. that is sad- dogs which are now unable to enjoy bones.
  2. slightly but jass.91 THIS link takes you to an ebook which may be a very useful thing for you !
  3. good news, and absolutely gorgeous photo!
  4. as a growing pup, she doesn't really need this starchy stuff. perhaps make up some thick chicken broth (no salt) just boil up chicken bits(skin, bones, gristle) - when cooked, take out the bone . then add some pieces of kibble .. maybe two or 3 liver treats to get some good scent in there. let broth set in the fridge overnight plug the end of the kong with peanut butter ..pour in teh broth, and freeze. MUCH more dog- appropriate food - and the smell will attract her . the best bones for dogs are those which can be completely chewed up and eaten (they are also the ones which may not upset her tummy)
  5. Glad your dogs have helped in teh healing
  6. hey, gillybob- there's time yet for snow
  7. i would also suggest a boarding kennel - where the dogs will be in a secure environment ... I hope they can find somewhere which allows the dogs to be home again.!
  8. i have never used a crate - and probably wouldn't ..simply cos i am used to doing things 'the old way' None of my pups have ever made more than one or two messes inside - none have been chewers... if you think it will be a useful thing - then learn how to - and do it . if you are happy to do things as you have done before- then that's fine too
  9. ;) they are animals- not machines.. so they have all the wonderful and not-so-wonderful attributes !
  10. rottie/lab/border collie....... whatever Large mixed breed sounds good !
  11. Why ? Whatever irritation he had may have settled - perhaps , due to change in exercise or bone chewing or being in slightly different temperatures he didn't drink as much at certain times ..and therefore didn't need to empty a bladder at night - or perhaps he was dreaming..woke up, and then had to toilet . ;) I'm sure there have been nights when you have needed the loo at a different time , for one reason or another ... bodies react to all sorts of things , and it's all very normal
  12. What sort of bones are you feeding her? leg/brisket/chicken frames/lamb necks ... what sort? I second roo tails! and, can you describe what you mean here?
  13. sounds like you need to enrol at a dog obedience class ... that way you can be shown ways to handle your pup and you may also need to change some things in your dog's diet. What exactly does he eat? brand of dry food , treats, cuts of lamb/beef - any bones ..table scraps?
  14. They are just wonderful! Thanks I love #8
  15. if you fit a harness - she could sit in something like THIS
  16. an old style pram- not one of those pusher things . A rottie could fit in a 'proper' pram ! ;) go looking in opshops etc
  17. She may have a reason for looking the way she does, Kirty... some health problem /ginormous worm burden .. inability to digest /mouth/teeth/palate problem.....
  18. perhaps freeze them? then your dogs may chew them more thoroughly?
  19. Oh poor old fella . to you and your Mum. What a shock for her . Small comfort, but at least you do know what happened..
  20. He doesn't need to send a shirt for Harper... but maybe for you!
  21. The only cairn I've known well was the one my aunt had for many many years .. she was just wonderful , and put up with my aunt's odd way of interacting with dogs .That's a recommendation!! She was not easy to groom at home- but fine at the groomers. She was just a sweetie ...
  22. Thanks, Ams. The second photo is of a very old water tank ..about a metre or so square ..and of heavy gauge iron like THESE .
