  1. I suggest a small water bowl suspended from the end of the crate .. Wet bandage is a concern indeed . if the moisture does reach the skin- the bacteria will GROW rapidly in that warm/moist environment .. and it can get very nasty. Love those photos
  2. I use PERMOXIN but do NOT use this if there are cats in the house with your dogs ... cats cannot metabolise the chemical ..it is dangerous for them. I don't find the smell too bad .. it sort of foams ,so can be worked well in to the coat ..and can be applied every few days if needed .
  3. That looks better now ! I
  4. Ditch the pasta - he doesn't need it. he needs a good kibble .. a chicken wing ,maybe .. a or some NATURE's GIFT canned food if you can't/won't transport meat. It is one of the 'better ones, and OK for short term . Make a thick chicken broth - NO BONE lots of meat ...almost a stew. let cool. Add kibble bits, and a couple of slices of apple .. seal hole in kong with peanut butter - add broth mix and freeze. It's probably not a good idea to have him eat before/while exercising/swimming - I would worry about things like bloat. I use crunchy peanut butter in kongs - I just line the kong with it .. certainly don't use more than a few teaspoons every so often.
  5. I would suggest after then he can relax and digest his meal.
  6. An excitable pup , who has not learnt proper manners ... and younger kids who inadvertently provide her with opportunities, and who may get hurt is not a good combination . Pups and kids who are supervised, all trained and who play by the rules, are a terrific combination!
  7. It would be unusual for a young pup to have AG problems ..... IMO . What bones does your pup get? is the beef mince a dog one, with ground up bone in? he may enjoy chicken carcasses or turkey necks to chew on Bone (RAW) in the diet also helps make poo a better consistency to aid in squeezing the anal glands
  8. This reminds me of a neighbour's little poodle - 30 odd years ago . She was always doing 'something' whether in the sheepyards, chasing rabbits ..riding with her boss on the motorbike...
  9. not a good combination .. anyway I suggest you look at what is available in THIS LINK about having dogs & kids safely . Have a look at the BOOK , especially Until you equip yourself with the skills to train your pup .. perhaps keep her on leash as much as possible when visitors come- that way kids AND pup can be educated , and socialised ;) Kids need to be taught how to behave around pups ...and dogs I strongly recommend you implement N I L I F "nothing in life is free" LINK
  10. The book depository is great! Really quick delivery too!!!
  11. That's very good news! it must have been too big to go any further. now she can have her meals and get back to being a ratbag ;)
  12. Ask your vet .... and leave it in their hands ...
  13. ;) THIS THREAD may be informative as to what can happen where socks are involved ....
  14. Liquid paraffin is wonderful I never laugh ..I always start worrying Surgery for foreign body /obstruction is not a pleasant outcome .
  15. Magstar - sounds like your dog was lucky! Vegetable oil can be digested/absorbed though .. liquid paraffin does not .. so provides a nice lubricating layer all the way through....
  16. Well, it's way too late to get her to vomit it back up ... and way too early for it to be all the way thru yet... it will be (hopefully ) travelling along about midway by now. IF she were mine.. I would be giving her some liquid paraffin oil to help lubricate it thru . Phone the vet and ask dosage . What sort of sock .. a thick one, thin one , anklet ? ... if it was a really big thick one, I would def. be contacting the vet now ...
  17. They are lovely all those smiley faces!
  18. weed mat won't stop a digger ,IMO - it will just give them something interesting to shred ;)
  19. I'm sorry your little one is ill that does make it hard ... but 2 or 3 very short training sessions a day will help your dog use up some mental energy - even if you can't walk her.
  20. Yep I usually do go out in the rain .. the dogs enjoy it - it's a bit of sensory stimulation for them .. with the raindrops, the different smells , etc
  21. being young, and high drive and energetic... just what do you DO with her on a daily basis to keep her mentally stimulated ? She is a bit like a coiled up spring .. keep a spring pressed down for too long and it will bounce up with HEAPS of energy !! ..and this obviously doesn't work Does she get played with/treats/attention when she IS being quiet and lying in her crate, or with you? How much time does she spend inside with you ..learning to not use her mouth on things other than chew toys/bones? perhaps contact K9 pro (steve) .. LINK and perhaps have a read of one of his articles -LINK I think it would help you greatly to have an experienced professional - used to working with high drive GSD's at your side
