for the outside play /feeding .It will get easier Toilet training tip : little puppies cannot 'hang on' when they feel they have to go .. they GO . it is YOUR responsibility to make sure your pup has access to a toileting area at least every hour or so during the day ..and a couple of times at night. Yes, you will have to wake up and take pup out ... but after a couple of weeks, this should ease up as puppy's system gains more control as it grows. Toilet training only works if pup has access to inside/outside..and if the owner works hard to help puppy avoid mistakes inside. Lots of good stuff outside when toileting happens .. leaving puppy ouitside for long periods doesn't really teach the message of "no toilet" inside ...as puppy is not inside to experience it ;) Have a read thru these threads ...you will see most folks have problems , too.. they are all different situations ..and slightly different solutions ..but are all helping get to teh final result! Hoping you can find a few answers in here . LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK

I do it all teh time I teach, from day one .. the 'swap' game ! :D puppy is waddling around with a toy/stick- whatever ... I say 'SWAP" Take object..IMMEDIATELY shove in a treat .. praise puppy .. and give toy/stick back. repeat ,repeat, repeat ..... then , when toy swapping is perfect ..then practise when puppy has a chew toy or bone (that he has chewed for a while ... then move up to dinner etc Usually after a few practices, puppy will have no objection to swapping toys/food/bones ...and then it's a matter of doing this every day a couple of times to re enforce.I find it much easier than chasing dogs around trying to retrieve stolen items ;)

He's gorgeous! -
;) we use UA because it helps our workers hold weight - esp in this cold weather they work very hard ..and often aren't keen on eating after a really big day. So if they nibble the UA they still do OK When they changed bonnie some years back - our dogs got sloppy poo and just didn't hold the weight . I did have quite a bit of correspondence with teh company back then (it was when purina bought the company )

haven't used it for a few years when it really changed, and not for the better We now use the LAUCKE product - Uncle Albers .

Thinking of you as you play the waiting (and worrying) game -
take her out in the backyard & play - eat treats .. sit with you .. and try to NOT pat her or fuss if she runs away at the noise , etc. Just let her gradually relax by chewing bones..chasing fluffy toys , etc. perhaps start feeding her out buy the back door ? just go about the normal stuff.... with her tagging along.

Glad she's at the vets now takes away some of the worry from you , too .
-
Why do you pat your pup while it's eating.? .............. IMO there's no need to ...unless you have a sick pup or a scared one unwilling to eat in the presence of humans ....
-
Do you not have an 'outside" ? Outside is always preferable and heaps of praise after she goes outside will help her to realise this .
-
That's a good start make sure he sits before he eats, too ..and starts to eat when YOU say so ;)

What diet did the breeder recommend ? baby pups are like any baby .. they don't like everything .. and if they have never eaten it .. they may be slow to try it
-
have you asked the breeder for their advice? They know their dogs best
