  1. I think, if you are having kids over who are not as dog savvy as yours - yes, Roy should be kept away.. or be with them on leash, with you. It will save him being branded as rough/naughty/whatever.. and will show the kids what a responsible owner can do to ensure safety ..there are activities for kids to learn how to play around dogs, etc - Who knows the neighbour's kids may then educate Dad ;) LINK
  2. If I'm not in control of my dog, and it jumps on.annoys someone - then if they push /hit the dog .. it's my fault. ;) I can ask people to not pat/discipline my dog while it's on leash or under my control ..but if I'm not looking .. then I need to acccept that something I don't approve of may happen. My problem.
  3. CAT WORLD FORUM - they may be what you're looking for. kitten should be vet checked ..and I'm not sure of the legalities of keeping a stray kitten . I do think kitten should be in a crate though- esp. if it's a feral.
  4. That IS a good update !! tell her rest and enjoy being worried over :p
  5. Slightly offtopic , sorry ... perhaps that's the reason he was humping... he was showing just how dominant he was. ....
  6. I don't class them as 'fluffies' ;) Plus they have longer legs than a little bichon . Yes- they can be clipped to suit
  7. Hope your girl is Ok facial /head swelling can be dangerous sometimes .. if swelling is inside the throat as well.. and can be a big problem ! Ask your vet this question, I think .. that way you get advice pertinent to your dog ...and that you know is safe . bees are a common cause of this .. the dog sniffs them, or tries to catch them .. and Bzzt!
  8. I'm glad at least the farmer was asking people... a lot just shoot the dogs and dump the bodies ....
  9. here too, sometimes . I have satellite .. and it varies .
  10. I missed the bush walk bit .. I can just imagine a coat full of 'stuff',after bushwalking with a fluffy!!
  11. Hi and welcome for getting in early to research and learn!! I will give you this link CLICK HERE - most of the info is useful .. some techniques you may not use .. but it's a good basic start . No doubt there will be some good advice/info for you as others find this thread . Just a thought - do they really want to go through all the puppy stuff? Housetraining, etc ? You may well be able to find a lovely young adult - or older dog of the breed they choose - and that way they can see exactly what they're getting ..and not have all the 'baby' angst ;)
  12. I wouldn;t suggest to vary his diet .. that just leads to fussy eating ( if I don't eat this, Mum will give me something better/different) NOT a good long term plan ;) he needs to learn to eat what is put in front of him . I would suggest using chicken carcasses /semi frozen whole wings/turkey necks as well ... Also with mince ... not too many vegies ..just a little .He needs meat more than he needs veges .
  13. That's why dogs have teeth ;) he can eat everything .. I'd leave the meat on ..and just give him say, a thigh, a back piece , a drumstick... whole if he is a young healthy dog .. skin & all.
  14. I'm sure there are dog proof enclosures out there somewhere ;) .... or perhaps someone should recommend them a trainer .... We have dogs who will kill poultry ..it's just a matter of managing it.
  15. and hopefully won't be returned to him ..after he apologises and gives excuses ... Good update
  16. No .. personally I would have already done something ..- but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone ....
  17. eew don't feed guts .. rabbit gut /pee smell is very hard to remove !! (and dogs like rolling in it! )
