  1. A stray dog needs to be approached with caution, whether wearing a collar or not. Unless it was an emergency,. there is NO way I would grab one by the collar. there are several things which can go wrong...... like the dog taking fright and slipping/breaking the collar , the dog biting me, or the dog carrying on like a pork chop and making life difficult ...... and I prefer to avoid them ;) I always have some means of securing a dog in a bag or in the car.. even twine or a belt Dogs I don't know I treat with respect and with caution.
  2. That certainly would have relieved a lot of the pressure/pain , thankfully
  3. I can understand how she is not wanting the pups around - I daresay an abscessed boob would be pretty darn painful!! Glad she's still happy, and hope , with the meds, everything heals up quickly
  4. Not for macros ..still use the old point&shoot for them thankyou - it did look pretty.
  5. He does need to learn ..and you need to learn how to manage /teach him Please contact a good professional person and have them visit you and work with you on this. With little kids around... there is no margin for error. I suggest you contact Erny, Cosmolo, or Nekhbet all DOL members and professional who will be able to help you . Best of luck with it all....
  6. Glad she is on the improve ..and also glad that now your dogs have elbows and wrists , after all these years of just having knees ;)
  7. have you tried THIS THREAD, here on D O L ?
  8. Frozen is fine working a bit to poo is a good thing .. it helps squeeze out those anal glands ;) Constipation is NOT a good thing. ..and it's a balancing act to get it 'just right' Maybe just give him one or two as well as his kibble ...three when he's a bit older....
  9. Hi . not good. What training did/does this dog have? Does he normally have free run of the house? is he generally a well behaved and obedient dog? has he been taught to toilet on command? Does he do this in front of you?
  10. That's a lovely tribute R I P Gizmo.
  11. Glad it's safe , but Sorry , what about quarantine ?
  12. If it's happening regularly .. def. get it checked out . Perhaps video it for a chiro/vet to see ;)
  13. Looks like a bump on the noggin , from those photos .. poor girl.
  14. I wouldn't - a maiden at that age .... too many risks .
  15. ...and you may have to train her to toilet on a long leash etc. Some dogs don't /won't at first. I suggest a long length of the plastic coated cable you can buy at mitre 10 type shops .. it is very light - almost unbreakable ..and if you get someone strong and knot- smart to attach a swivel snap hook to each end ..you have a very useful piece of equipment I use a couple of these setups ... I can clip one end to a belt/rope around my middle , too
  16. Exactly! Which is why the OP may need to use physical control/restraint ... so puppy is not able to make mistakes/learn bad habits
  17. That's what happens here - lanholders, power, government , other folks... the locks look very intimidating!
  18. toy dog - yes... a lot of folks think it's funny or cute
  19. Hmm where did my post go? yes, I do think the pup should be either under physical control, or away from these kids ;) It will do two things. Save him from making mistakes, and being branded as a naughty dog ..and help teh kids see what things can be done. You might also want to do some activities found in this little ebook .. who knows, Th e kids may then educate their Dad ? LINK
