Please Send Good Thoughts For Mindy

That was good news -
...and during sleep, kidneys operate at a much lower level- thus meaning the bladder needs less frequent emptying. Do not use time 'holding on' at night as a guide.

Nervous Day - 1st Time He's Home Alone Outside His Crate
persephone replied to GrumpySmurf's topic in Puppy Chat
there will be toileting done indoors , if he can't get to the outdoors ... he can not hang on all day ...then hang on all night too ... Just remember to not make a fuss of him as soon as you get him home.. or let him out of his pen immediately ....don't even talk to him for the first 5 or 10 minutes ..then just do everything matter of fact -
two snakes seen today :( Not Happy!

I would imagine this is a rare occurrence - an accident .... :hugs: -
It can be grass, or carpet, or detergent , or pollen, or lots of things Keep note of when he scratches .. then maybe you can remember what he was doing/where he was before it happened?

Pup Crying At Night When Crate Left Open.
persephone replied to **Super_Dogs**'s topic in Puppy Chat
how sure of this are you ? ;)I would just leave the crate closed, so she doesn't learn any bad habits -
What bedding is in the crate? maybe just put one cotton towel on the floor of it? You could also raise the crate up a couple of cm off the floor to allow air circulation ...and remove any solid base . Do not cover the crate ... get a thermometer ans see what teh temperature is in various areas .. place crate where the temp is lowest .. That's all I can think of ...

That's good news ... and yes, a doggy door sounds a very good plan !
-
The few I've worked with were lovely dogs(and bouncy) - that need a LOT of care taken to stop them being bored & yappy . Grooming is pretty important .They have a beautiful 'smile'
-
here's hoping she will improve now

I like the hypothetical thumbsup :)
-
sounds a good plan for the hypothetical owner.
-
Yes.
-
The hypothetical owner should have reported being hit by a bicycle driven by a hypothetical drunk! They should also say something like .."It was SUCH a shock - we were all frightened- even my poor dog got scared and hurt when we were all on the ground "
-
I read it as chained TO a ute ..not IN a Ute .. I presume it was at ground level if it bit her legs ? Perhaps the owner was a tradie .. and secured the dog to the vehicle while he was working ? ... The poor lady .. I hope she recovers without complication. What a scare!!

Advice Please! Can't See Vet Until Monday!
persephone replied to Terujo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Glad he's getting some help with it- and fingers crossed surgery won't be needed. -
I was beginning to think no one bothered to do any actual learning/training anymore ;) yes, there are harnesses one can buy ... and you can also do things the old fashioned way - getting taught a method which you can use to educate your dog Training tools like headcollars can be DANGEROUS if used inappropriately , with an inexperienced dog owner. Dog training clubs , and private trainers can work with you on understanding WHY your dog pulls , HOW to stop it, and WHEN to use the techniques Dogs walked together may pull a lot more ..they are a 'pack' and excitement is infectious. pups /teenagers who have not been taught from day one to walk on a loose leash, will of course pull .. as they know no better A lot of dogs pull simply because their owners are unsure of what to do , and are concerned of being 'cruel' , or hurting the dog in some way. I enjoy the communications which happen when a pup/dog is being trained ..and then walks on a loose leash, or whatever , wearing just a flat collar , and is doing so because they are listening , feeling, and responding to my voice, and /or slight changes in my body language ....... learning how to actually communicate with , and educate your pup/dog is a fascination .. as you then find out all the different bits of information your dog processes to make him what he is ;)

I am so sorry your girl has gone ...

they eye, I presume? poor boy - that would have been agony. Keep us posted

Fantastic!

have you had a look inside her mouth? Does she have anything that looks red/sore/like a foreign body? Will she eat treats/human food? Is she drinking happily? Vet check tomorrow, I think... just to be safe....
