Pomeranian Puppy Toilet Terror/ Am I Going Mad?
persephone replied to Cattleya's topic in Puppy Chat
THis bit was of some concern to me as well.. as it seemed a very small space. -
I listened to that yesterday ....glad it was that reporter and not me ! The old man sounded a character

I snakes here live in engine sheds/under/in the chassis of old cars . they don't seem to mind.... Phenyle has also been suggested as a barrier spray .
-
Someone I know had many reptiles in large enclosures.. he tried the repellers, and the snakes curled up on top of them ;)

Not sure about a human mouthwash.. it would need to be the alcohol free ones..otherwise it will sting his mouth .. most also have saccharin etc in them .. What about some organic apple cider vinegar in his water bowl? That way he washes his OWN mouth out :p ..and vinegar can slow down the growth of many bacteria , AFAIK. You might also like to try colloidal silver ,sparingly.

No ..because it's dead tissue ...

I'd just be washing/rinsing with cold black tea it is a mild antispeptic(tannic acid) , and , IMO , much more preferable to stuff like angel eyes which is a low dose antibiotic....

I agree!!

the jury's out on these.... perhaps save your money ;)

Or..you can run shadecloth or flyscreen around ...fastened along the total length .

having seen /assisted at a lot of euth's during my time working at a vets .. it was always hard.... even those oldies, or very very ill ... but it was our job to do it it properly and kindly ..and to be there for the owners. And, yes, there were times, not often, that we were all in tears - vets too....when our `patient was a favourite... or the one I will never ever forget - the old man with his canary in a cage ..poor canary had to be euth'd ..and that old man, walking out with his empty cage, after having just lost his only companion- .. that was just an awful evening. Then there are the ones in which illness isn't an obvious thing ... where a much loved dog has bitten someone , where an elderly person has died and their wish was for the pet to not be passed around the family and upset... and kids, like the little girl with a guineapig whose skin condition just would not respond to treatment . Mind you .. there are the lovely moments, where a dog who is in pain/very ill has those few seconds of peace just before they leave, it shows in their face - and when the owners realise that this is a gift ..it brings them much needed comfort . That's a special time

Puppy With Super Sensitive Tummy
persephone replied to Kirty's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm glad she is improved ... just take things slowly .. and hope it all goes well -
Just one of those replies .. person 1 "why are you doing that"? person 2 "because I can!"

This is certainly not a comprehensive list of questions, I know. ..and we only have 3 questions , or there would have been one on rescue ;) I was just wondering , though of the reasons for using D O L ...and not just the forums . have fun, play nice .

Hi.VET now. squinting like that can mean several things .. and she would benefit from a vet visit. She is in pain for some reason...whether it be foreign bodies or injury to her eyes...or some other reason which is making her squint in pain ... maybe the light is hurting her eyes.... thee are eye problems and other conditions in which squinting is an early obvious symptom... All of these are a really good reason for a check up ASAP. best of luck at the vet...and don't be fobbed off with .."see how it goes in a day or so".... eyes, and symptoms involving them are a serious matter.

"backyard Breeders" Posing As Purebred Breeders
persephone replied to lushos's topic in General Dog Discussion
pure bred ? the pups may well be pure bred .. you said that you have spoken with the breeder of the original dam and sire .. so, if they were then sold on as pups, not desexed, and bred from .. the litter is 'purebred' , but not registered . Is that what happened? I have found this confusing. -

..and you are so wrong in that assumption. Spend some time reading the forums ..then post that again. -
that works.. or you can make a new post on DOL in the health forum, maybe asking for recommendations from people near where you are? if it is an allergy, Allergies are hard, as you need to find the cause ..not just try and treat the symptoms .Causes can be anything from food to cleaning chemicals to pollen to a plant... best of luck with it ..
