  1. BOINNNGGG!!!!!!!!!!!! :D So... snakes are pushed out of any sort of 'natural' habitat, and need to move elsewhere to find food/water/shelter. Where can they move? Backyards. That's all that's left.
  2. Oh..and atua .. we MUST have photos of this girl
  3. Am I the only one who feels that's it's a good thing no breed was named? I see it as attempting to tone down the hysteria ..by not mentioning a breed.. no one's nose is out of joint at 'their' breed being blamed .
  4. HERE is a link to a thread on fenugreek. personally, I'd only use it if a bitch is known to have lactation problems , or , after whelping a LARGE litter, she is not producing well. ( and producing well does not mean she staggers around looking like a dairy cow ;) ) I don't believe in encouraging a bitch to overproduce 'just in case'. It has its own problems
  5. Thankyou, thankyou for posting this I never think to look *sigh*
  6. To me those rear boobs just look very very full and tight..and the veins are prominent ..... that;s just from the photo... if you're worried , then apply a cool compress.. or a cabbage leaf compress . ..and see what happens. Her hormones have told her to PRODUCE ..and she has! Ever seen a full cow's udder? let things settle and in 24 hrs they should look much smaller, and feel softer. It's difficult for bacteria to get into a mammary gland if no pups have suckled ..as the openings are still closed ;)
  7. Don' t panic .. mastitis is an infection..therefore a gland with mastitis will probably be warmer to touch..may be a bit sore, and may feel tight/hard (hard to explain if you haven't come across it before, as full mammary glands feel tight and full ;) ) ..also any milk expressed will look curdled ... or be 'sticky'. I have worked with lots and lots of whelping bitches- and have seen only a handful of mastitis cases - it's easy fixed if caught early
  8. ..and , after she's been told of the 'allergy'... throws bread over anyway , and nothing happens to the dogs? Maybe give her something the dogs CAN have . Or just be firm ..and state they are YOUR dogs ...and then make sure she can see your new security camera ,aimed at the boundary fenceline.
  9. perhaps 'shelter' and 'pound puppies' are an americanism ? Americans have some cute and odd terminology ;)
  10. Gordons are on my "most desirable because of looks" list ;) I have only ever worked with /trained one ...and he was wonderful , except for acute 'kennelanxiety' - he was only ever settled when with humans .. we could not keep him in a kennel environment , away from company . ........... he was so beautiful I hope this girl gets whatever she needs to be happy .
  11. Several folks have mentioned her ,,I'll do a search ;) HEREis just the search results - she's mentioned a lot! Hope you can get some help Solitary confinement is not the healthiest ... .
  12. Hi - what does she 'do' what training does she get each day? what work does she get? how does she use her brain each day? What new things does she get the opportunity to learn each day? What will happen to her when you're busy/tired with a new bub? I agree you need professional help - the only person I can remember is Jane Harper ?
  13. Oh So sorry your old man had to leave take care
  14. Slow Down...and read what people are trying to say. THIS is what we are all noticing , and commenting on, It is suggesting to joe public to not buy a puppy from the good and ethical breeders here on D O L ..... Dogs from pounds and shelters are also bought - money changes hands ... so where do people get their dogs from, if they don't buy? It is a catchy , rhyming phrase- but those few words do not address the designer dog/puppyfarm/rescue issue at all. we posted at the same time! a lot of people on here have dogs from pounds!! They are important .... oops- edit for shouting.
  15. and perhaps this is what your little quote should say? You are using a purebred dog site- where breeders advertise, and educate, and encourage people to BUY well bred pedigree dogs. NO -ONE on here, approves of the breeding of designer dogs .....we all agree with you! That is why seeing someone asking /telling the general public ( who come here just to read/learn/get ideas) to "Don't Buy" ... just seems a bit ... at odds with some of the functions of D O L .... ( I presume, being a long time lurker you have seen all the breed pages, and breeders'listings, etc) There is a strong rescue component on D O L as well , so they do get consideration ..
  16. Hope you can get some help with him ...
  17. ..and don't feed the bitch any extra food ! Good quality- normal ration . She doesn't need to produce much milk at this stage ..and if pup needs to work a bit for his dinner- that's good exercise, which is now lacking as he doesn't have siblings to crawl over/fight for food with.
  18. Hi - you and your dog need more help than 'obedience training' A dog biting, barking , with probable fear aggression, and problems with other dogs in public is not happy when in situations triggering the fear, and is a dog who may one day be declared 'dangerous' and bring the law down on you. Did you get this dog privately, or thru a rescue ? If a rescue- have they offered to help you? May I suggest /urge you to contact a professional to assess and help you. No- this is not the time to choose a franchise form the yellow pages, either ! Ask on here- and tell us where you are situated ..and someone will suggest the best/closest good person to help you and your dog.
  19. No thoughts on the dogs .. just thoughts that your wife maybe should look to buy you what YOU want ..and buy the healthiest, and most diligently brought up dog ! Ex breeders from puppoy farms do not fit either category. You deserve the best .... don't you? Why buy problems? It's a bit like buying a car from Dodgy Brothers... It's just the colour you have always wanted..it's got twin CD players, and a built in fridge . It hasn't been driven for a few years ...and there's a BIG pool of oil underneath where it's garaged . The pedals feel very slack, and one wheel looks out of alignment . No coolant in the reservoir , The Seller can't let you hear how it runs, as it doesn't have a battery ..but if you take it home, he will supply you with a battery later on ...and he's sure teh other stuff is easily fixed- after all it's exactly the colour and look you want, right? yep.............................. right. ;)
  20. Can't help with any info- but am thinking of you & your boy....
  21. to using Guineas - they also help deter/warn about foxes and feral cats .
  22. There doesn't need to be side effects .. your yard, your dogs ,your rules. you might need to make fences higher ...
