Chewy - contact pebbles .. that's sort of her stamping ground I think... poor pup.
-
Gayle - I agree . There are excesses in many features.
-
perhaps the same way a police dog - often a GSD - does . Or how my dogs do when they hunt feral cats ..they track them right to whatever tree they're in , and Hamlet stands up ,paws on trunk, like a coonhound ;) ( he's a koolie x spaniel)
-
And you'd be guessing wrong. I just enjoy seeing dogs who look fit & without excess skin folds on parts of the body . I understand well the 'cone ' effect of facial/neck wrinkles and pendulous ears in scenthounds ..
-
These dogs just look so good - none of that horrible wrinkly skin , legs with which to move well ...

The hound has shown the ability to identify and hold the line as a member of a pack. The dog has to not dash forward..but to keep with the pack, under direction of the hunt master /kennel master* The hound has given tongue at, and only at appropriate moments. The dog only vocalises when it is appropriate - eg: when it finally gets onto a strong scent , or prey is located..* The hound has shown the ability to hunt over country for at least two hours. Dog needs to be reasonably fit that's my interpretation, anyway edit to remove 'stuff'

Ones I've seen it's just that they are hot- most whelping boxes are made to protect/keep warm the precious puppies ..who cannot thermoregulate and who need to be nice & warm . Mum however , snuggled up with them, can get a bit uncomfortably warm

I actually love poodly coats like what your girl has now ! Puppy clip or similar looks nice to me I hope your new babies will have happy and interesting homes soon .
-
No offence meant at all.. just that I wasn't aware you had good measures in place .... Your beautiful girl and all those gorgeous little babies will charm everyone, I'm sure!
-
It's the disease factor I am concerned about ... with such young babies ...
-
they do look lovely!!
-
Sorry about your Grandfather ..and taking those photos was a lovely thing - they look very happy dogs
-
definitely no strangers anywhere on the same floor/ surface as puppies! No picking up, either.... And your girl looks lovely!! :)
-
can't you brush/comb her as normal every day? Clip out the worst mats with scissors if they are causing her discomfort? Who cares what she looks like at present?
-
I was going to suggest a vet visit... diarrhoea is a very easy way for pups to dehydrate ....
-
ANYTHING is better than parvo or gastro for little puppies !! provide a cool surface for your bitch..fans/ice bricks/ice water , or a coolmat for everyone

What A Lovely Day In Melbourne!

Hmm... no way would I be taking a lactating bitch anywhere where other dogs are in numbers .. for risk of carrying something back to unprotected puppies.
-
Maybe when you visit the vet, ask them which can be safely used together, and which might work best?
-
Glad your girl is ok... eclampsia is a nasty thing, and you did the right stuff ! I do think sometimes folks forget though that being in an enclosed space with so many other heat producing bodies..and working to produce milk can make bitches just plain hot and uncomfortable.
-
I also thought it was an ongoing problem... it wasn't explained very clearly ;) Perhaps if it was that one day ...there was a bitch coming in season - or off season...
-
You're a newb......... you ain't seen the DOL machine in action! ;) It can be awe inspiring .
-
...and if you've taped it while her ears are changing , and the changes make the taping work differently? .... ;)

Poor Man, Poor Dog. Hamlet used to always wear a muzzle- to stop him ingesting nasty things when he was more of a Hoover than he is now.
