  1. Oh, yes Snuffle Mats are something she might really enjoy. http://www.allpetseducationandtraining.com.au/snuffle-mat-mayhem.html
  2. What an alert looking girl she is . marrowbones are almost as hard on teeth as rocks ;) She may enjoy frozen chicken wings /frames ...any bones which are NOT weight-bearing ones are good , as they can be eaten ...don't splinter, and won't break teeth . have you tried her with deer antlers? they might provide her with a good chewing experience for an amount of time ..... What training does she enjoy ? perhaps if she has lots of mental exercise , she will be a little less likely to seek out this sort of entertainment ....It's great you are providing all sorts of things for her , but don't forget her thinking brain ! Teaching dogs to 'chill' is a great way to both get them thinking, and have them settle ... Here are a few links you and your fluffball teenager may get help from KIKOPUP K9 pro articles Calming Games Enjoy
  3. I understood he wore this at night . in that case , he may need his jumper on ..he doesn't have much of his own coat to keep him warm , and unless he's covered at night, or on top of a heating vent , he may be a bit cool . Does he sleep curled up, or laid out flat ? If he's curled up tight, he is cool . Lying flatter ...warm enough ( rule of thumb) he IS still a baby
  4. but obviously not if it's warm indoors ?
  5. Often these things will happen because they are still a baby . Make sure he's not too warm ! if he gets a drink every time he goes out at night to toilet, that is a bit unusual .... it may be because he's a bit too warm , or rarely , has an underlying health problem . did the vet test a urine sample?
  6. Sandgrubber ... she will stay with you in spirit , that's the way it should be ... her labrador love of treats, and you, were her bestest memories to take with her - how marvellous
  7. I enjoyed this article and videos . https://www.silentconversations.com/importance-of-allowing-your-dog-to-sniff/ extract : The links to articles on body language etc are worth saving , as they could prove very handy for someone
  8. A vet check is my suggestion as well . has anything at all changed? has he had any different treats ? ones that may have been saltier/dryer, so that he has been drinking more ? is he perhaps not sleeping as soundly because he is too warm or too cold? he is still very young to be fully reliable 100% of the time ... he was only born in February .. you must not have had him for long?
  9. What a wonderful tribute to the Evil Beagle ...So very sorry you've lost your so special girl
  10. So Sorry, Sandgrubber . Run like mad over that bridge Jarrah ... then rest easy Do nice stuff for you now , SG ... you need pampering ..
  11. @JLRM AS this thread is 4 yrs old , Mita has a better chance of seeing your request if you 'tag her ' by putting @then her name ..click on it when it pops up as you are typing
  12. LMO ..you did so well in the preparations for this time Time is now in charge ... and her fighting spirit .
  13. Hi, and welcome :). Some things to consider... Why are you getting another? For you, or because you think your dog needs a friend? Is your boy well trained, quiet and settled, pleasant to take out, and good around other dogs? Do you have room, if necessary to keep dogs separated from each other safely? A new pup will need to be kept separate for some time, walked separately etc. Is your boy castrated? Then just the general stuff...large dog vet bills etc...are an extra. Extra hair..some delicious drool Just things that popped into my head
  14. You may also get some answers from the very helpful folks at Mc Dowell's Herbal they use some homeopathic treatments along with their vast range of herbal products .
  15. Homeopathic and actual herb versions are very very different . Why not contact the person who prescribed the medications & ask them ? From what I was taught , homeopathics are best given with a clean mouth ...for absorption purposes. I have used homeopathic arnica on dogs with no problems. Homeopathy is one of those "divide the room" modalities ... scientifically, there is nothing to suggest why it should work . IMO It does in many cases, and can be most useful .

  17. is he walking on a nice loose lead ? Or is this when he is in a dog park/off-lead area ? maybe he can be rewarded with some treats YOU give him for NOT saying hello to other dogs , or trying to pick up stuff ? Saying hello to other dogs can sometimes lead to misunderstandings between dogs and humans make it a fun time with muzzle time ... make it a time when you maybe teach some tricks ..rewarding him with lots of play/praise, or treats , so he has other things to think about! Some of our working sheepdogs wear muzzles on occasion ..and you should see how excited they get when The Boss asks them to come put their "helmets" on !! they know what comes next
