How Can I Stop A Dog From Going Through Our Bump Gate?
persephone replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
This must be hard for you - being that he was your Dad's dog.. :(Unless you put up more fencing , or do heaps of training (get help from a professional) I would suggest rehoming the dog . Perhaps contact a rescue organisation ? or put a notice up on DOL . poor dog - -
For pups who are not ill/injured.... Stick to what the breeder was using. put food down and walk away pick up bowl after 10 minutes . No treats/bones until bowl is clean. You have to be strict with this for a few days .. until she gets the idea. After a few days, if she is still not eating properly ..... then maybe do something different . Sometimes, when removed from home..and with no competition , appetite slackens off for a while. If the breeder marked her as 'fussy' there may be a problem ... but don't start changing food over each day - then you may get a pup who knows that if they wait long enough...something better turns up in the bowl! ;)

A human camp stretcher .. with shadecloth cover..and blankets, pillow etc when needed.

white vinegar?

That's good to hear!!

I am not in favour of leaving no bark collars on an unattended dog like that .. what if she gets frightened/hurt? She will bark/cry, and then get an aversive
-
She will be quiet when sleeping indoors . Simple crate training!! then she can be indoors to sleep - but have her own space and not disturb anyone/thing. some links on crate training ... link link Dogs left outside alone can be fine... but they can also learn a LOT of bad habits - like barking, chasing cats/possums/digging , etc..and living next to a chronic barker is definitely undesirable.

Makeshift Doggy Diaper/nappy Thingameebob

THESE are fantastic for the dogs I have used one for a couple of years - various times for dogs with a problem ..and as they will hold around 2 litres, they certainly won't let anything thru ! -
LizT that is absolutely gorgeous!! :)

Oh ...that's sad for Tarra , the elephant .. it was a lovely story LINK

Glad you are using the leash approach Just remember to regulary take her out to toilet - so if there is an accident there won't be as much ;) Hope she gets a good report from the vet - don't forget the urine sample- or are the vets doing that bit? -
;) some folks are not aware just how big a role the 'discussion' part of DOGZONLINE discussion forums plays .

Leema .. just remember , that for there to be pustules and loss of hair apparent to us on the outside- there are lots of really nasty things happening to be killing of skin/hair etc on the inside I really hope you get a vet who takes this seriously....

I've only seen a couple of puppy strangles cases... and by the rapid development , appearance `and general ill health of this poor wee thing ..it seems that way to me.Happy to be corrected tho- ! I thought that ,first up some days ago when you posted the pics. I think in the last pic, one lump can be seen near `an eye? Mine you pup could also have demodex AND pyoderma ..

that's why polls are good. Yes/No/maybe .
-
yes.!!!!! It's a shame , IMO that it was not picked up earlier, and treated - it can be a very nasty disease- esp. in such a tiny, compromised baby fingers crossed he pulls through OK.

so, now you have learnt what a nuisance those notifications are! the WONDERFUL thing about this forum is that it is a discussion/conversation forum..where one topic/word/suggestion leads on to something else..and something else Of course, being a discussion, and humans being the odd creatures they are - often there are disagreements and stuff . If you only require yes/no answers, perhaps do a poll ..they are a good and easy way to get for/against results. that way we can just tick a yes/no circle, and you can then just look at the bar result

professionally prepared saline in single use sachets are a great thing to have for quick wound cleaning! I use that, then apply betadine a few times a day

Young Dog Who Has Broken Her Leg

If this dog is not already yours... then I would suggest you look elsewhere - she may well heal and be wonderful..BUT with plates , things may go wrong under heavy training , and with age... -
