  1. Hope all is OK ..... i always worry about bloat , when I hear foamy vomit Thinking of you.
  2. he's in the safest spot , hoping for better news tomorrow
  3. KKW.. I remember maui is luckily not a bull breed ..and has not the BSL shadow looming large, should his owner ever let him make a mistake
  4. Aww.. dear old thing .. How very lucky she was to not lose an eye!
  5. ;) I think we need photos of the 'matriarch' .Old dogs are certainly characters!
  6. He looked a nice boy - I'm sure he will find some people to love Zamba will recover , after a bit of a 'culture shock' ..poor old girl . Hard decision ...
  7. He got a late Christmas gift ... a blue rubber bone with holes into which I squashed treats ... it has worked well, and kept him busy licking out the treats!
  8. sprinkle liberally with bicarb soda powder ... work well into the carpet..leave for around 20 mins, then vacuum....
  9. poor old fella..... hoping he recovers soon.
  10. there are lots of good solid mesh types around.. so your dog can still see, but no hand can be inserted ...
  11. *puts flame suit on* sorry .. I think asking a very old dog, with known issues around strange dogs , to happily accept a (larger)pushy newcomer , is a big ask, and unfair on the poor old thing, and yes, dangerous. having to confine/possibly muzzle her and completely change her routine/place in the pack also seems unfair ..she is old, and , IMO deserves just to enjoy her remaining time with as little stress as possible. The other boy is gorgeous, I know ... this is something I would not inflict on any of my oldies .. I wish you wisdom.
  12. Doesn't have to be an amstaff to do that job ! Anything black/brindle with a bark will do , most times ! also- to do that effectively , a dog needs to be seen at a front window/inside the front door etc , as well as in a back yard ..otherwise the baddies just come in the front way to avoid the backyard dog
  13. ;) I don't socialise . those cliffs are just beautiful there....and yes, they were much cleaner back almost 100 yrs ago !
  14. There's no magic age when bad manners stop ... it stops when the humans are successful in their application of suitable training ;) if the humans are unsure and unskilled, bad manners can continue for years . perhaps suggest they get some help?
  15. yes, if it were one of mine I would be concerned. I think , samjohn, it would be interesting to speak with the breeder, and ask them when males of those lines matured? Perhaps they mature very early , and now he may need extra training/behaviour modification ... he has not had visible testicles until now?
  16. A 7 kg pup will only need a tiny amount .. when I use it for the cats , I open a capsule , and mix a pinch in food . If cats will eat it , a puppy certainly will ;)
  17. At 6 mths, and already aggressive , I would not think testosterone is the main cause ... I don't know much about Chemical castration .. but I doubt it works instantly ? If you have not already - May I suggest you contact someone to help you with this ... ..and I recommend K9pro- a D O L member and very experienced professional who deals with all sorts of dog problems .Aggression needs to be properly assessed and dealt with responsibly ..and long term. Removal of a hormone will not change a behaviour which has become a habit .... Oh..and does the breeder have any comment? have they seen any others in the line with this sort of aggression , or do they have any suggestions for you?
  18. Here's Indi & his boss today Indi is an up-&-coming yard dog with lots of promise .He's almost 12 mths old.
