How To Stop Pulling On The Lead.

I used to provide head collars in these cases The dogs were trained before being provided (therapy dogs) but because of fairly severe lack of strength/balance etc owners needed to be able to feel comfortable and retain control/communication thru the leash, as well as vocally .When out walking, the headcollars allowed them to do this . -
if there are wedgetails around , it is a possibilty..there would have to be a fair amount of free airspace to swoop down..along and up again .. They take rabbits/l,and small lambs , etc ..

Not Sure Where To Go From Here
persephone replied to Kirty's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
That's good, but, as with any learning, repetition and reinforcement is important .. and I am of the opinion that repeating walks for some time helps settle dogs a bit .. they are not expecting something new every minute ..they can walk and pay more attention to the handler, as they know what's around them .. and it's not important .. As said, you are doing so well ..I am looking forward to reading of her exploits!! -

Not Sure Where To Go From Here

You are doing so well! walking her close is fine, IMO. would you perhaps be willing to attach a small bell (like a 'rod bell' from fishing stores) to your belt /shoe.. so she can follow the sound? Perhaps then the bell can be used to get her doing different things ? Also, maybe give her a bit more time to suss things out - she needs to sniff/hear/ 'get her bearings' /build up a picture of her surrouonds .. without her eyes gathering info. I would also suggest walking the same route a few times consecutively, so she learns the way..learns how to cope with a certain texture/obstacle/noise , and thus build up confidence ...'Oh- I've been here! I know that's only ***** - no problem!" ;) -

I don't know about BB's in particular, but no dog should be in good condition and have as many ribs showing as she currently does . Ribs should be able to be felt, or 'just' barely visible under the skin ..weight differs, depending on a dog's size, age etc . She definitely needs more/better food to help her recover weight/muscle and skin health ..which is why two feeds were suggested . The quantity she needs is too much for one meal Pearl is lucky she has you caring enough to ask for help. -

Good plan... it would be awful if he got worse ...and even if it is 'just' anxiety ..there are medications which can help with that anyway... keep us posted. -

Please take your boy to a vet tonight ... those behaviours can be pain - relates , and better to be told it's nothing, than have him get worse overnight What is like with toilet today? urinating/pooing as normal?Has he eaten anything different over the past couple of days..or different bones etc ? Panting/shaking , looking preoccupied, etc are all signs of pain. I hope he gets a thorough check at the vets , and that he's feeling better tomorrow. -
thinking of you - how awful.

Stop Barking Collars - Are They Safe To Use On Pups?
persephone replied to Tara8430's topic in Puppy Chat
Not advisable ....at that age, training/behaviour modification is ideal . Have you seen one in use , or is there a puppy problem barker? Maybe we can help? What age is pup, when is the barking a problem, and what else has been tried? -
Agreed. A chiro's trained fingertips can tell them of subtle changes in muscles/joints- that's what they are used to , and it's a wonderful skill

After my somewhat anxious dog (who used to spend every day in the office etc with me) had had a chiro visit .. workmates would ask me what I'd done to him..that he looked as though he was floating on a cloud , and was so laid back .. Most visible effects would last a few days . The chiro would work on points around his shoulders/neck ..and Mitch would enjoy it , too
