  1. Anything that's long term AND spreading needs to be checked out by a vet - no matter what good stuff you are using at home ....

  4. I hope they can fix the infection ..that will be dragging her down a bit .. She really is a poster girl for neglect , poor thing . You have given her a life ..and for teh first time, she is able to eat good food, and enjoy herself :)
  5. Your poodle and yourself may enjoy some things in THIS FORUM :) Have Fun! he might also enjoy a sand pit , or a paddling pool with floating toys :) he might like a soccer ball to roll around ..what sort of things does he enjoy playing with/doing?

  10. I have photos somewhere taken from the soldier's memorial, Albury, and the Old Curiousity Shop ,in Bendigo :) Modern ones. I love teh little fella in his bathers :)
  11. Here is one of me , taken around 50 years ago, as I tramped around with my (step) Grandpa , pretending to take photos ,just like him ;) Grandpa visited from Germany rarely as I was growing up ..and we used to spend most of the time walking , and looking, and photographing... I love this photo , as I loved walking for hours with my Grandpa :)
  12. Poodles are very smart, and need things to think about/do , aside from a walk. ..They also pick up really quickly what gets them attention!
  13. :) The reputable rescue folks know their dogs well ..and if you have little kids , then, personally an adult who is used to kids , and who doesn't need the constant supervision, the housetraining etc while trying to look out for human kids .... would be my personal choice. here is the rescue forum , if you want more info .. LINK HERE
  14. Chatty Kathy ... Staffies left entire are unfortunately can be attractive to puppyfarmers and those doing illegal dogfights..and when you get your boy, desexing would be a wise move , I M O . I hope you find a lovely dog - :) If you ask on here there are reliable rescue people who may be able to help match you to a boy needing a home . That way , you get your dog, who will have all his vet work done , and have support .
  15. I know at least one of mine will bite ..and they all sound pretty ferocious if anyone tries to get in the yard , usually... they have let one or two as far as the back door . I feel safe .
  16. Yoiks! I'd be keeping doors closed from now on , if your dogs didn't react to all that !! Glad it was only the police in your yard :)
  17. Friends of mine used to live in an outer suburb .. 2 to 5 acre blocks ... they rescued wildlife ..and had trouble with cats coming and climbing on aviaries etc . They did try traps etc .. anything with a collar got hosed down very well and released .. anything without a collar ...well, they didn't go anywhere. Sad, but there was not much else they could do.
  18. SUPERVISE your pup, keep it happy and occupied with you and what you are doing ... (not sitting cuddling it all day, but playing/training , getting to know each other) ..get pup very used to being alone and not bored ..ie: from the first hours you have pup home ..ensure it has time alone in pen/crate /room /yard .Feed it in a set spot .. have bed somewhere safe , etc ...
  19. A sandpit ..with smelly treats and a toy buried ? a soccer ball ... our pups all love it ..they roll it around , and chase it ..and wrestle it .. (leather ones are better in case they chew ) those balls which make weird noises as they roll are irresistible ... the cackling noise annoying, but irresistible to curious pups !
  20. She is only one dog ..but a consistent foundation is a very good start .. and will set any puppy off on the right track , forge a strong relationship between owner and pup, and give an owner a much better understanding of how pup thinks and behaves :)
  21. No ... you and she missed NOTHING , IMO - working together, communicating, achieving, learning and sharing experience is more valuable than gratuitous cuddles and admiration ;) :) Quite possibly :) ..as it should be .
  22. rest for a couple of days ..NO JUMPING/twisting.... then vet if it's still obvious. It could be a patella problem , or he could have just strained a muscle ....silly boy :p
