Whatever 'cream' you are using will not have an effect in a couple of days .... treatment needs to be continued for some time . Unfortunately- applying medications can then sometimes muddle results of skin scrapings, etc ... What medication are you applying now?

Walking Sticks And Pulling Dogs
persephone replied to ChristineX's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
What about the front fastening harnesses? They weren't around years ago when I was training dogs with old/tottery folks , and I have not used one, but they get good reviews on here :) I used to provide headcollars in cases of limited mobility ...and do lots of training with a dog beforehand- so they were steady when we started off ;) Have you thought about Schroeder maybe being trained by a trainer first, then transferring those skills to the owners once he has learnt what it's all about ? ( not something I normally approve of ...but where there is a real possibility of injury , it could be something to consider.) It may also give the owners more confidence, seing that he 'can' do it , and then they are able to work on their own balance/posture /communication skills safely ... The other possibility is that they get help from an assistance dog group, who should be used to working with people who have mobility concerns . oh .. and although I am solid and fairly mobile..I walk with a walking stick too ;) it always is an interesting exercise trying to leash train a puppy ! :p -
Just have to say ... Wow! someone did a great job with the garden! :D It's a good plan to keep a new pup on exactly what the breeder was feeding.,and the same amount, same feeding times etc. (It should have been written down for you in the info the breeder sent home with pup). After a couple of weeks..you can gradually wean it onto the food of your choice Too many changes are not good for a baby , and it may lead to an upset tummy. Did the breeder suggest milk? It's not necessary , when the pup is fed a good puppy kibble...and unless it's puppy milk/lactose free milk, it may also cause an upset tummy.

How Do You "untrain" Something?
persephone replied to just1more's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I just have them sit, gently pick up a paw , say 'shake' or whatever, and praise ..repeat repeat repeat ..then Isay the command word, touch the wrist behind paw.. and they will start to lift it .. lots of praise .. and so on :) (I don't use food, so can't help you there) -

Sorry, had to smile at this. That's a bummer about the camera /spider I hope you can get some information soon , and get the pups back .....the next best thing I can hope is that wherever they are they are being loved & spoiled . -
Ok . frozen turkey necks are a useful thing too :)
-
yes, it is :) Marrowbones/shanks can be very hard on teeth, and also shards can splinter sometimes ..sharp bits which aren't really ideal in stomachs ... will he eat roo tails , or frozen chicken frames, or beef brisket bones maybe? They are a bit softer, and don't splinter .Freezing them slows down chewing time a bit ;)

That is just awful ...so sorry

Sydney Abbatoir Closed For Cruelty
persephone replied to samoyedman's topic in Dog Cruelty and Abuse News
... crops here (wheat/barley) have shooters patrol most nights .. and emus cop it during the day .Not poison ..but killed anyway . cockatoos also get shot in areas where fruit/nuts are grown ..and a lot are illegally poisoned. There is also the destruction of habitat ..and the use of fences , which, when newly erected , effectively kill roos/emus who cannot get thru the barbed wire/ringlock to get to water, as they have done for ever. I would much rather see (and eat)one of our sheep roaming the paddock where it was born, get killed cleanly with a single rifleshot , than travel the boundary of a nice 'clean' crop paddock and see all the dead things . -

Still Researching Raw Feeding
persephone replied to mumtoshelley's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree . Mum to Shelley ..have a read of that thread .. work out a basic 'recipe', and then feed HALF of what you worked out is enough ;) Your guys have only you to help them regain their waistlines .It's hard, I know - my dog always looks at me as if he is starving slowly - and he gets very little food .. -

Did you get her assessed by anyone to find out why ? She sounds as if she'd be a bit of a problem to live with ... -
I can't see your photos .. but the first thing I thought of when I read this was a dermoid cyst ? they are little or large , and full of hair etc ., from memory.

Excitable German Shepherd.
persephone replied to DRJ5150's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I agree here - especially in this day & age , where people can instigate legal action etc for all sorts of things It would be well worth your while to get him professionally assessed, and then get a plan tailor- made to suit you and the circumstances. If you say where you are , a reputable person can be recommended for you to contact :) -
poor pup . Where did she come from?Sounds as if she may have missed out on all her socialisation .... I hope there is a good trainer /behaviourist somewhere nearby who can observe and help - cos I think this one would be better dealt with having a professional at your side . Best of luck with it all...
